Paxil has worked wonders for me I was on it for 3 years I wish i hadn't had to go off as with alot of ssris serotonin medications they can poop out (nothing negative) it just happens with most of the meds in fact i might go back on it again its been a few years i have been off and on something else. Paxil really helped my Panic Attacks, Social Anxiety and Depression also PST (post traumatic stress syndrome. Just hang in there the first week any new medication makes you feel a bit sleepy some people come off to soon. Paxil is great I am very sensitive to medications and there are alot of them i can't take but this is one that works great and one you don't have to worry about just listen to your Dr. Its the best thing in the world not to feel that anxiety and paxil will do it!

Important information

You should not use Paxil if you are also taking pimozide or thioridazine, or if you are being treated with methylene blue injection. Do not start or stop taking this medicine during pregnancy without your doctor's advice.
Do not use Paxil if you have used an MAO inhibitor in the past 14 days, such as isocarboxazid, linezolid, methylene blue injection, phenelzine, rasagiline, selegiline, or tranylcypromine.
Some young people have thoughts about suicide when first taking an antidepressant. Stay alert to changes in your mood or symptoms. Report any new or worsening symptoms to your doctor.
Do not give Paxil to anyone younger than 18 years old without the advice of a doctor. Paroxetine is not approved for use in children.

No positive experience here, but no negative either. It just didn't work. One thing I did learn with anti-depressents is that the same drug can have different effects on certain people. The only thing you can do is to see how it works for you. If it doesn't then you can move on to something that might work for you. I was diagnosed with anxiety disorder a few years ago and paxil was one of the first I tried.

I just started taking Paxil for OCD, depression and anxiety. I am only three days into it, but I do feel a difference already! It does make me jittery, and kind of hyper, which is okay because it makes me get out and about, therefore making me feel better. I am not so anxious around new people and in public anymore instead I am relaxed. Its taken the edge off during my OCD thoughts and compulsive actions, which is good! I am really excited to see how far I come with this medication and my therapy sessions! Good luck to you!

What are you taking it for? Depression or OCD?

Well the good thing is, it works. With any medication they have to post the pro's and con's of any med. My sister, brother and mother in law were all on Paxil. They all did extremely well on this. Helped them feel normal again. They all took it for depression. Not only did it help with that but it also helped with the body pain she would get due to the depression. My brother took it as well for the same thing and it helped him get through his tough time. My mother in law, she took it for depression and OCD...obsessive compulsive disorder. She couldn't of gotten through her time without it. She still takes it to this day. SHe has done great with it.

I take my own medication and DO NOT research it. I just ask my doctor what do I need to know about it. What he tells me then I just say ok. I think it does more good then bad if you really need it. You don't know how bad you feel until you start taking it and it you start feeling better. Then after you start realizing "wow, I really felt bad!" Don't worry, you'll be ok. At the beginning, you may be a little dizzy, a little nauseated but just know it goes away. Paxil is very well tolerated and is one of the most prescribed medication.

Good luck

I have been taking paxil for 3 years and it has really helped me. The one downfall to any antidepressant is weight gain. I have gained over 3 years 30 pounds. I have gone off of it a couple times and I was fine. Just wean yourself off if you do stop taking it.

Dont take it! All antidepressants suck. I had 2 people I knew who took that and one of them had the shivers (he body would shake 24 hours a day) and the other got even more depressed. You gain a lot of weight from paxil due to the fact that it makes you tired..very tired.. and you become lazy. Not to sound harsh, and i am sorry if this offends you but anti depressants are for people who are weak minded...and some people are but if you can control your mind then dont bother taking things that will only negatively affect you.
