So many experts. Fact is, there is no way to avoid cliche's. To many times has so many phrases been used, that almost anything you say can be classified as cliche'. I hate the one people tend to use when they say "write from your heart". Your head is where you need to write from. You don't mention why you may not be around for the baby, but that should be explained in your letter. Write the letter as if you were writing it to your twin sister, or your best friend. Just tell the baby what it is you want to tell him/her (I have a problem with "it", sorry about that), be honest and forthright, don't worry about cliche', and with the honestly will come sincerity. You don't say you want to write a poem, but a letter, so write the letter the same as you would any other letter to a loved one. And just for the record, I am trying to help, not get 10 points. I already have plenty of those, and am truly concerned with the problem you face. Feel free to email me if I can be of assistance.

Dear all at (the name of the creche!)

They have always come home happy & full of beautiful pictures to stick up on my walls which shows that you are dedicated to making sure they are entertained & creative. you are all so caring and kind & I trust you fully when I leave my children in your capable and loving hands. Thankyou all once again, keep up the great work & have a lovely christmas.

Why not combine with a Christmas card large enough for your thoughts? That way they can display it as a yuletide greeting and a testimonial for others.
I would start by thanking them for their dedication and continued hard work and finish with a recommendation.
Perhaps you could contact your local free paper with a small space for your appreciation and get some much needed advertising for them.

Good luck with your venture.

Just make your own...tell it as it is ...and from your own heart. That is the best way, and the most honest!!!
