I'm asking this in "dogs" because this is where I spend most of my time...

For those of you who allow e-mail through YA, do you find that some people abuse it? I have found that sometimes when people disagree with me they tend to carry on with insult after insult through my e-mail. What is the point?

Do they really think that my day is ruined because of their childish reactions to my opinions?

I choose not to remove my e-mail because I have had some wonderful correspondence with many people from YA Dogs.

I'm only curious if other people notice this too? I try not to make it a point to argue with a lot of people, but I'm only human. If I've made enemies then so be it.

Wanna know the beauty of it? The person who absolutely hates KJ on YA Dogs could be the same person who blocked traffic to allow me to merge into a busy highway this morning on my way to work.

Kind of tacky if you ask me!
I do get emails from others who want to keep in contact. Sending emails like you have been getting is rather like I said tacky!

I do not respond to the nasty ones, though I have not gotten any as bad as you are describing (now that I had said this I will I bet).
People who do this are not real smart as well! Emails can be back tracked, harassment over the internet is taken seriously these days! Back in the early 90's it was new but now it is not....

Just delete them if you even read them it is up to you. This is a fun place and have seen you around. Everyone is not going to agree, but harassing peeps is not cool!
(writing this in the middle of getting my autistic kid ready for school, will he ever be able to tie his own shoes??)..
Do not let it get you down....Or leave yahoo answers :0)

Well, obviously it does bother you a little. What some people don't understand is that everyone has an opinion on everything. If make a point of getting in spats with everyone whose opinion differs from your's, you're going to make yourself a loooot of enemy.
I say you just ingore these shmucks. Or remove your e-mail address.

I get some e-mails from my posts in the Fish section, they aren't insults, mostly, just people trying to explain to me how a goldfish can survive in a 1 gallon bowl (which they can't - but that's beside the point). If they ask a proper question or make a coherent argument, I will respond. Otherwise, not.

Some people just have too much times on their hands. Like me. But I try to be productive with it ;)

I have also been 'harrased' - once by backyard breeder of 'designer dogs' - unhappy because I have called them scam artists, so he called me a racist & a pedigree snob (???), as opposed to him being an unscrupulous person who breeds mutts for personal profit while shelter mixed breeds are euthanized because he took away possible homes? Go figure.

But, I have also continued helpful dialogue with people who had further questions about answers I had given, and that is nice. There are 2 sides to the coin - we have to accept the good & the bad.

Yes, I have gotten those nasty emails myself. I let people email me if they want to talk further. Really do they think they can change my opinion by emailing me and telling me they think I'm a Jerk?In defense of those emails I do have to say, once I got one from a girl that turned out to be quite nice. It was a misunderstanding. I worded an answer improperly. Without realizing it the answer was taken differently than its intent.

You are so right!!! People on the pets site get so worked up and most of the time over nothing. It is a bunch of people who all think they know everything about YOUR pet.

I've had a few people dissagree with my opinions in e-mails (big deal), but no one has been abusive.

some people have nothing better to do with their time then insult other people. they are obviously bored and have no lives. it probably in some sick way makes them feel better about themselves. i would just delete the email and ignore them

this junior high behavior is very common online--folks think they are not identifiable when they hide behind a pseudonym--so they abuse their privilege. if they knew they are identifiable--every time they use their computer, there are ways to find out who they are even tho they think they are safe----there are also safeguards built into this forum--just report them.
