I am doing a contest at work where we have to make a wreath with a team. Since we are near the ocean I though a wreath covered in sea shells would be nice. Since the surface of the shells is smooth because they came from a craft store I don't think hot glue will make them stick. Is there any kind of craft glue I can get from a local craft store that will be strong enought to make the shells stick to the plastic wreath? Thanks!

Try a glue called E-6000; available at craft stores and Wal-Mart; I use it to attach rhinestones to costumes for my daughter all the time; it will hold anything; squeeze a little glue onto a disposable container; use a toothpick to dab glue onto the shell; allow to dry over night

My cousins wedding was last week and everything had sea shells. So trust me when i say, hot glue doesnt even work on real sea shells (it only sticks for a few minutes, maybe a day and eventually falls off). What did we use? Crazy glue.. we tried special art glue and that didnt even work. But maybe in your case it will? If you don't want to work with crazy glue, then ask at the art store and they will tell you what glue you can use. Hope this was of some help.

i don't know how large it will be or the size of the shells. one of my aunts lived near the ocean, on the gulf side of fla. i wish you could see the things she made for me. she would use shells she found. she used a hot melt glue gun. go to a craft store, take materials with you. they then can tell you the best way to do your project and what to use. this project will be heavy depending on sizes of shells. good luck.sounds like it would be pretty. betty boop

I used hot glue also when I made a wreath and had no problem, and mine was in the bathroom where there's moisture after showers etc. You could probably try "Gorilla glue" as well.

I second the vote for hot glue. You may want to look for a low-heat hot glue.

or you can use wire to attatch them... a craft store should have a colored wire that will blend with the shells ... ;)
