Was the puppy and parents registered with AKC? If so, report her to the American Kennel Club. Contact the breeder and tell her the puppy is sick. If she is reputible, she'll exchange the dog for a well one or refund your money.

Did you discuss this with the breeder? If the sickness is a congenital defect then the breeder should be told. Sometimes these things crop up unexpectedly and there's not much that can be done about it. And sometimes the sickness is due to the dog being accidentally fed the wrong thing or something around the house that your dog has eaten when you aren't looking, like string or a toy.

In any case, the dog should be taken to the vet to see exactly what is wrong with it. If an inherited defect is present the breeder should replace the dog or pay for the vet bills to correct the problem if it can be fixed.. If it's something like roundworms, the dog should be wormed--worming a dog when needed is part of "routine maintenance." If the dog is reacting to a change in food then go back to the food the breeder was feeding and switch gradually to a new food to give the pup's system time to adjust. Your vet is the one who can let you know what is up and if it's the breeder's fault or not.

Contact the SPCA in your area (Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals) or the Humane Society (in some regions these two work together). This organization will investigate and will involve the police if it's warranted. Also, Contact the AKC - the American Kennel Club - if she tells you her dogs are AKC registered. They need to know, and will help in putting her out of business. If she denies you a refund, and you think the puppy's illness is certainly due to her negligence as a breeder, you are owed a refund, and can take her to court (small claims) if necessary to get it. You may also be able to collect compensation from her for any necessary vet bills.

The best way to shut her down, is to tell every vet, every pet supply store, every local dog trainer - anyone who works with dog people. Word will spread like wildfire.

Meanwhile, good luck with your puppy. Take care, and with the help of a vet, things can get better and you can keep the dog. . . .BUT you can get a refund from the breeder.

in case you stay interior the U. S., call your state veterinarian - each and every state has one, and they are area each and each and every state's branch of agriculture. they can actually have a cyber web web site that information the guidelines relating the promoting of animals - in my area, breeders as well as rescues who cost an adoption cost also are seen an identical as a puppy save, and situation to an identical regulations. this could also mean it became in truth unlawful to promote a puppy that youthful, and the breeder may be situation to prosecution or an outstanding as a effect. There can also be a 'puppy lemon regulation' which carry the breeder in charge for any ailment that the puppy has... yet all this can be on the dep. of Ag, so as it really is the position you need to commence. the very shown truth that human beings by no skill opt to go back the puppy is the only situation that breeders like this use as leverage - dogs are seen sources, and in case you sdon't go back the collateral, you received't get a compensation, which they could argue in courtroom. An SPCA investigator ought to help you with the files, and may also little question be very fascinated interior the problem. opportunities are severe an analyze into this individual may ensue different issues, and may with slightly of luck close her down, a minimum of briefly. as well - the registries frown upon those practices, and if an analyze grew to grow to be up animal abuse, they could droop registration priviledges to that precise, it really is an quite powerful way of negative their operation. No registration, the pups are nicely worth a lot less on the open market. Get 'em interior the pocketbook... besides, it truly is a puzzling position to be in, even with the undeniable fact that the investigators should be in a position to inform you a thanks to proceed. contact them with out delay, earlier the puppy receives any older, that enables you to work out how youthful he's. good luck - bypass get 'em!

Good luck!
I also got scammed by a "professional breeder". I called the kennel club and they said they do not control the breeders! It is buyer beware.
I asked around about this breeder too, but know one told me the truth about them! I called this breeder up and told her this pup is seizing. She said she would sell me the brother to my dog for a $100. I was ticked! I thought to make things right she would at least give me the money back to pay for all the vet bills I paid her for this pup, I only wish that pup cost me $100 bucks! Lot more then that did I pay!! Then offering me a full brother who more then likely had seizures too! She also admitted that her female had seizures! I never thought I would ever be so ripped off!
I will be very reluctant to ever buy a Australian Shepherd in the western part of Washington State again! Trusting any "Professional Breeder" again is hard! Not all of them are for the old Mitty green back but a lot of them are!
Sorry you to had this experience! Hope you got farther then me. I wanted this pup as a helper dog for our seizures....She lived a good life with us until she passed on from seizures.....

You can tell the police. But what do you mean report her? the breeder or the dog? Just be nice and take the puppy to the vet and ask them WHILE they are trying to cure the puppy.

To begin with if the puppy was sick when you got it why did you get it?...But any rate,to report the breeder you need to go to ASPCA(animal control--that is near you),but you`ve got to have prove that the puppy was sick you you got it from the owner.

Well, how long have you had her and whats wrong with her? Why do you think it is the breeders wrongdoing? It would help if you gave more info.

Sometimes, new pet owners either do/don't do things that can get the puppy sick.

Why did you buy a sick puppy???? Doesn't sound like good sense to me.

If the puppy got sick after you bought it, how long after?????
As a breeder I always tell people that if they take their new puppy all over creation to show to people,,,,,,,,,, THEY ARE ON THEIR OWN!!!!

if the puppy had papers go to the breeders site and fill out what they ask of you.
i had the same thing except i bought a red mini pinscher and he
had just one testicle and so i couldnt use him if i had wanted to but the vet said that the woman had to know and of all the litters she was selling the gene was passed on in both of the sexes.
plus till this day i havent got his papers. so i turned her in and they will deal with the matter.
