How many kids are there?
I always loved the game Musical chairs, where chairs are set up, one less than the number of participants. Music is played as the children walk around the chairs, then it is stopped suddenly and the children scramble to sit down.
The one who cannot find a seat is out of the game. This goes on until one child is left.
This one is the winner and receives a small gift.

i'm doing a parent day out this weekend too.
i'm planning on musical chairs w/Christmas songs
making pigs in a blanket, letting the older kids help- hot dogs, cut in half, wrapped in biscuit with cheese
and making a couple simple paper Christmas crafts.
if you have TV and DVD player, i suggest Cars. all ages love it, and it's still new to most kids.
if you want any more ideas you can contact me through Yahoo.
good luck and have fun with the kids. i know we'll have our hands full.
