I have a female black on white cat and she is about 10 years old. She is both an inside and outside cat but during the winter mostly indoors. I have found piss on my fathers bed, on the couch and on my bed as well. I clean her box very often and have not switched her litter type. Do you know why she might be doing this and cleaner to get rid of the horrible stinch?

first of all you need to see the vet and find out if the cat has got an UTI, which in that case it will be cure with antibiotics. I had same problems with my Freud and after years and years of buying new cushions for my sofas, changing mattressess etc i found out that he didnt like the inclose litter tray. Once i took off the hood the cat has been fine. To get rid of the smell you need to buy a product that you can find at Pets at home but i cant remember the name of it. If you dont remove the smell the cat will go back to that spot and do it again.Another trick i was tought by an animal behaviour therapist was to put a bowl of food on top of the sofa where he usually urinate .

Last year my beautiful Manx cat Theodore went out for the evening and never came back. I love cats and the house didn't feel the same without one, so I picked up Lola from a rescue centre. She was very frightened and would pee all over the house. I found Cat Spraying No More on the internet and the techniques worked almost immediately. I haven't had a problem with Lola since. Amazing!

Can't stop your cat peeing in the house? Then worry no more...

Sounds like a urinary or bladder infection, that can make cats avoid the litter box.Like humans with it, gotta go but can't,cats go anywhere. Need vet visit and prescription for it (Clavimox, etc.)Refill water bowl often(needs liquid to cleanse her system),don't leave food out long,can/fresh food and broths may help. As for the odor, OdoBan works great.(Sam's Club, wal-mart).Best wishes, don't give up on her-that's her only way to let you know something is wrong since she can't tell you. She peed on places that you would notice so yes, cats are smart-they find a way to communicate although it is sometimes frustrating, they don't really have any other way how else can they tell us when something is wrong. Hugs to your girl!

Well I have two cats myself a three year old and a 8 week old and never really had that problem..but when the older cat is angry she will piss everywhere else besides in her litter..like if we don't feed her on time she will go in the plants..if we yell at her for scratching the furniture she will go on the furniture..cats are so unique and similar to humans and if she enjoy out doors let her go out in the cold she has fur she will be warm and that's probably the problem she wants to go out!!!

Is there something new or different in her environment? This may be an emotional reaction. I had a cat that starting shi-ing everywhere but his liter box. He was upset because we had got a dog. Cats, male or female neutered or spayed will spray on furniture to mark their territory. She could also have urinary problems. Hope this helps.

I am dealing with the same thing. I took my 16 year old female cat to the vet. He tested her for diabetes, renal failure and thyroid. Test came back that she is in early stages of renal failure. Because I caught it early, the vet says the kitty will bounce back. If I had waited to get her looked at, she could not be saved.

In other words, even though she may be acting like she feels fine, take her to the vet just to be sure.

Sounds like a UTI. When my cat get's urinary tract infections, she uses the bathroom everywhere except her box. This is b/c cats associate the box with pain, and dont want to go there.

I would get her to a vet ASAP.

she is insecure about something--reassure her that she is important in your family, make sure she knows where the litter pan is--when you see her squat, pick her up and place her in the pan. be patient, persistent, consistent--she will come around.

as for the smell--saturate the wet stuff with natures miracle--available in pet stores, then wash everything thoroughly, then use natures miracle after everything is dry.
not only should you not be able to smell the stink--kitty should not be able yo find where she went.

good luck--enjoy kitty.

if this does not work, if she is lazy and not up to her usual stuff, take her to the vet/call the vet--could be signs uf urinary problems.
