Why is commitment such a big problem for most of us (men)? I think that, for some reason, when a man is driving down that freeway of love, the woman he's involved with is like an exit. But he doesn't want to get out, he want's to keep driving. And the woman is like, "Look, gas, food, lodging, that's our exit, that's everything we need to be happy, get out, here, now!" But the man is focusing on the sign underneath. It says, "Next exit, twenty-seven miles." And he thinks, "I can make it!"

Most guy have problems with commitment for many reason such as family problems, scared they will get scared, last relationship ended up sour,Etc. But there are alternatives to solving this problem, just because want to keep going on that road does not mean you won't eventually have to stop because you know you will, your just afraid you will get more then you bargained for, but that is not always true, if you know what you want and you know what your doing. Maybe it has not hit you yet that not all exits in life are bad when you are on the freeway of love, you may find that great exit, thinking positive will set you in a good direction and help make better decisions in what ever you are doing. The freeway may be there but you have choose which exit is comfortable for you get off of and not worry about the next exit because you may not need it.

Comparing a relationship to an exit on a freeway, always a next one. Yeah, but the older you get your gonna get tired of driving and run out of gas! At least pause at a rest stop or two and don't get so stressed.....

Why buy the cow when the milk is free?

This comes down to the basic differences in what men and women want.

Men want sex.

Women want love.

Men use love, which they don't understand, to get sex, which they do understand.

Women use sex, which they don't understand, to get love, which they do understand.

If women would stop providing all the "essentials" a man needs while in the car, he'd be more likely to pull off at the exit.

That's a funny way of putting it - so true. Why are men like that you ask? It runs counter to our genetic programming that demands we spread our man-seed to every corner of the globe. It has also been proven that once a man "settles down" his testosterone levels decrease and I think on some level we know this and don't want to be feminized. Love is not a destination, some would argue, but a journey.

well, you either just hit puberty or are too much of a christian or have never been in a real relationship. Because a relationship brings good and bad and commitment its not just a men's issue anymore. I met a guy who proposed to his girl a year after going out with her and she declined. They broke up and she began dating someone else right after. Commitment its not like a exit to a rest stop in a highway but more like a long term lease. It has its benefits but it requires compromises. If you see a woman as a refuge to room and board and jsut pleasent things then you should saty single and never move out of your mom's house.
Compromises required commitment from the guy to commit to one girl and one girl only and from the girl to never stop putting out, those two are the bigges issue in every relationship: He cheats and she never puts out.

i think most men are just scared of giving all they can to one girl and end up getting hurt or to realize that's not what they want. and girls have that problem too. men just like to put up this emotional wall. and you guys wont let us in. but sooner or later we will break it.
