I just got a foot tattoo about 2 months ago.The artist made very sure that I would not be wearing shoes often durring the following 2 weeks. And made sure that I knew that they can (if not taken care of properly can fade quickly, and will fade more than others with time). Now as for pain,it was about the same aas all my other tattoos, not to bad,but it did make my foot and leg shake very bad. This can very among people. She just laughed and said I had "good nerves".Im very pleased with the out come.I got a old school butterfly with a womans face in the center. The colors stand out beautifully.I know I will be in for touch-ups over the years (somthing im used to already because of the one on my sternum) and thats somthing you have to keep in mind.I would do it all over again-and I am im going to get another on my other foot soon. All in all you want to make sure that you are ok that everyone can see it and that you are prepared to take care of it.Oh and I just want to forwarn you, they may charge extra for this tattoo, some shops charge extra for not-so-common places, and the foot falls in that cataglory.Good Luck,I hope I helped you some!GO FOR IT! ;)

I have wolf paws/face on the top of my feet. Yes it hurts more then other places. Probably right up there with the ribcage tattoos. I spent two hours in the chair for them and any longer I would have needed to take a break because the pain was exhausting. Make sure you eat, keep hydrated, etc...in other words, in good shape when you get it done *which is good advice when get a tattoo, no matter the placement*.
As for the fading. I got them done in August, so there really hasn't been time to fade, but I will share what I was told by my artist and the other artists in the shop. Feet tattoos don't always "stick" completely. Which means there's a very good chance that you will need to go get it touched up once it's healed, to replace the ink that didn't take. Mine turned out pretty good after they healed, the artist was surprised. Might have just been the way she did it, my skin, or my aftercare. I made sure not to soak my feet for about 2 weeks after I got the tattoo. I kept them clean and used aquaphor until the scab fell off, and then scent-free aveeno after that. Walk around without anything covering/rubbing the tattoos as much as possible. At night, I did cover it up with a little bit of gauze just because I toss and turn alot when I sleep and didn't want the tattoos to scratched by my toenails or anything stupid like that during the night.
Other than that, I love my tattoo, and I think it's the perfect spot for a tattoo.

I have a tribal sun on the top of my left foot. Actually, I would say it hurt LESS than the one on my ankle. The pain is not that bad at all.
As for fading, I do think it's faded just a bit. I got it 8 years ago. But it's still pretty dark! Will your scorpion be all black, or colors? I think the color would fade faster than black.
Your real challenge may be finding a studio that will tattoo the foot. Most won't.

I have a tattoo on the top of my right foot. I have had it for over three years and it has not faded at all. I am very careful to keep it well moisturized. As far as the pain, I am not going to lie and say it felt good, but it was no where near as bad as I had heard it would be. If you have had other tattoos and are considering this one, I am sure you can handle the pain.

true, the foot is meant to be one of the more painful areas, but i believe all tattoos hurt (all of mine have anyway) and people who say they don't just don't want to be seen as weak. after a while you get more used to the pain cos of the adrenalin surrounding the area. tattoos fade depending on how good your skin is at healing and forming a new layer of skin over the tattooed area, so no area should fade faster, however the end quality of how your tattoo looks depends on how well you care for it after you have it done, the tattoist should explain all this. hope that helps :)

I have one on my right foot very near the last 2 toes. Yes it stings but after the outline the endorphines kick in and its just pin picks. The best advice is 6 weeks after the first tat and you are healed go back for a deeper dye since there isn't really much fat to penetrate. It will last much longer.
The skin on your hands and feet shed quicker than other parts of your body. I've had mine for 12 years had to re-dye 3 times. The last time I even added to it.
Its very sexy in the summer. Worth every second of pain.

Maybe you should change the location of where you're going to put the tatt, because it would seem kinda discreet..but if you really wanna go for it, that's fine with me^^ All tattoo processes may hurt, well depending on the type of the person who will have it. And i don't think it will fade easily and fast.

It's the most painful place on the body to get one because it's all bone.
Yes, it will fade fast--very fast. Friend of mine got one on her top left foot in August and it is already faded, pale and needs a touch up.

i have a tattoo on the top of my foot
http://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a326/brandimonkey/tattoo%20stuff/21.jpg
and it did hurt, but it didn't hurt THAT bad, i just read a book to pass the time and i am getting another one in a week or so.
also i have not heard of them fading faster. there seems no reason that they would, especially since in your shoe they are protected from the sun. my tattoo artist loves to tattoo hands and feet, they're his favorite.
i have never heard of being charged more for different body placement. my artist just charges by the hour. good luck! show us a picture when it's done!
also, the person who said you will have to have it touched up evey other month or so is wrong. their tattoo artist must have sucked or something.
i got mine in june and had it touched up in october, but my tattoo artist touches up every tattoo he does after it has been healed for a few months.
