MANAGEMENT

Sometimes your pet will swallow a hook. A hook without line is normally passed, though it is a good idea to give a high fibre diet and keep a close eye on your pet until you are sure it has been passed in the faeces. You should see your veterinarian if you are concerned or your pet shows any sign of illness.

However if your pet has swallowed a hook and line this is extremely serious. If the line is in your pet's mouth do not attempt to remove it. Do not allow your pet to swallow what you have of the line (tie it to his collar and seek immediate veterinary assistance.

take your dog to the vet to check and make sure it passes if not the vet needs to remove it to prevent tearing the throat and stomach and esphoagus of the dog or even the intenses. keep all fishing tackle away from animals they swallow anything. Take your dog to the vet immeately.

Was it attached to the line? You could always go shark fishing??
Sorry - couldn't resist - phone the vet immediately and don't let the dog jump about too much until the vet gets there.

Ouch .... get your dog to the vet's NOW!!! Could cause serious injury to mouth, throat etc on the way down and your dog definitely won't be able to pass it. It will probably puncture the stomach or intestines and cause an excruciatingly painful death for your dog.

Common sense is screaming at me to say-

Take the dog to the vets, but what the heck.

Why not have a quick go on the PC to ask what other people would do.

I hope that the the delay in you using your common sense has not harmed your dog further!!!!

Why do people come on here and ask about sick animals and sick children.

GET OFF YAHOO FRIKKIN' ANSWERS AND GO TO A VET! What are we going to tell you? Get a magnet. Turn him upside down and shake him. Feed him a live fish and hope the fish takes the hook.

How about "Wait until it peforates his colon and he dies a horrible painful death".

Is that a good answer?

Take it to the vets - as soon as possible. It might kill the dog if it is left inside too long, the dog might be alright with it inside but that would be a bad risk to take.

Go ta a VET???

A fishhook will not make it all the way through the digestive system and will probably cause alot of damage.

You'd want to get off line and get to an emergency vet asap.
