If you’re looking for accurate acne information, best to see a dermatologist. Some people believe doctors are predisposed to take the easy way to deal with acne… prescription drugs. But, with many, this simplistic answer may not be the appropriate course of action. Some feel that such prescription drugs just treat the symposium and not the underlying cause. But, a local dermatologist is still your best starting point.
For me personally, I discovered a great informational acne treatment site. Not only is there good information/articles but I got their audio e-book and following it’s advice can now say that my acne is a thing of the past! Keep in mind, were all different and there are various types of acne, so what works for some may not be totally effective for all.
Bottom line, hang in there, you will get past this! Sincere best wishes and good luck.
Oh, by the way the site that helped me is:

Yes, read this book. I had the same problem, for years. It really pissed me off that I should have been more popular, except for the pimples. I am smart and funny, but they just ate away at my self-esteem. I was determined to get rid of them by hook or by crook.
I tried a whole bunch of things like proactive and others but nothing seemed to work. I tried a few different books and ebooks and nothing helped. Then, I read an awesome e-book that will teach you all the home remedies that you will need to get rid of acne permanently. At first I thought it was too expensive, but then I realized that I pay this much like every month for pimple medicine and washes, and this was a one time thing. Best decision I ever made! Not only did it help me stop getting pimples, it also helped clear up my onld pimple scars, which were really pissing me off!
You can learn about the book at this link

I tried some books from my dermatologist, but they didn't help me, plus I kept on forgetting to return them to the library. The best thing about the ebook is that i downloaded it right away, and i had the copy forever.

None of the meds worked for me. I had horrible acne, and I figured out how to clear it up myself. Here's my routine that got rid of my acne; do this every day and in a few weeks time you'll look a lot better:
1) Drink 8-10 glasses of water per day
2) Eat lots of Fiber... 20-30 grams per day
3) Vitamin A supplement...or, eat a handful of carrots
This will get rid of your acne better than anti-biotics, differin, salic acid, and everyhting else I tried. I used to wash my face morning and night. Now I just take a shower every other day, and I'm cool. Don't have to worry about acne.
Another misconception... YOU DON'T OUTGROW ACNE. People say you do... but, they are wrong. So, don't wait for it to just go away. Tackle this problem now w/ the method I prescribed and you'll be cool

While it took little less than two months for me to really see a difference, my acne, blackheads and whole lot of other skin problems I had such as eczema had completely cleared! It was totally amazing...

Proactiv is said to work wondres. I always wiped my face with rubbing alcohol before bed to get any yuck off of it, plus it dried the bumps up. By the way, you are probably damaging your son more by not helping him just because you are afraid girls will notice him. There are girls out there that dont care about superficial things ya know.

Is it really bad?
I had acne as a teen and it drove my mom nuts. She would take me to the dermatologist and get any product available. It didn't bother me as much as her. Does it bother your son? If not leave it alone. I really appreciated it when my dad told my mom to lay off.
Now at 34, I've been acne free for years and still get carded for ciggs when I buy them for my hubby. I guess all that extra oil was a good thing in the long run. My dad had acne as a teen and looks great for his age. My Mom, not aging so well....

i tried everything, then went to docs and after many creams used i was put on a gel called isotrexin, this really helped very quickly, although was q annoying as the gel formed a film that would sometimes flake off into my hair. but i have no acne now just a year later. hope that helps :)

There are many cheap and effective home remedies for acne. Tomato slices, turmeric, papaya juices and home made face packs will treat existing pimples and prevent further problems. More remedies at http://www.wellnesstalk.org/acne.html
