I just found out I'm allergic to silicone, and I'm trying to throw out all the hair products I have that contain silicone. But on the ingredient list, it doesn't say just plain silicone, it has a bunch of big complicated words like dimethicone and amodimethicone. Which one is the name for silicone?

Anything ending with -cone is a silicone. It's usually a good bet that cheaper brands (like Suave, White Rain, and V05) won't have silicones, while more expensive brands (Pantene, Garnier Fructis, Paul Mitchell, etc...) are usually full of them.

There are also a lot of natural/organic brands that don't have silicone in them... you can find these products at health food stores or the more hippie-type grocery stores.

Check out the website I listed below... a lot of people there don't use any products containing silicone, and they often have good advice on things you can try.

Just go for natural organic shampoos and conditioners. They don't contain any silicone. Dimethicone, amodimethicone are all silicone oils.
