My favorite of all time is The Matrix, particularly when they are in
the building when the security dude gets hit hard and they are
firing shots at everyone. Only the best subs can recreate that
scene with proper impact.
Another good one is the second Jurassic Part movie when they
are in the Jeep and the dinosaur is running after them... "Must go
faster! Must go faster!!!" This scene starts when the liquid in the
cup ripples -the better your sub, the better the scene...
Oh yeah, Top Gun is a good one too. Another sweet one, is the
train wreck scene in The Fugitive.
On a slightly different note, if you want to test the maximum
capabilities of your sub, there is no better recording than the
1812 Overture with live cannons on CD!!!

I second the Lord of the Rings opinion. Any of the three, although I personally felt that Return of the King was the best. There's a reason why Howard Shore won Oscars for Best Soundtrack. Just amazing. The effects are also awesome in all three movies.
Saving Private Ryan would be a good movie. John Williams did the soundtrack for that one. Great action, excellent movie.
Star Wars Episode 3: Revenge of the Sith is another John Williams movie. Again, great action mixes with awesome music.
You really need to have both action and a good soundtrack in order to make it work well.

Right now, pretty much THE low bass movie reference is War of The Worlds using the DTS soundtrack. The scene where the machine comes out of the ground. This has become so well known on the home theater subwoofer forums, it is now just referred to as WOTW. However, be careful...this disc is so over the top that several folks have trashed their subs with it. Few consumer subs have the cojones to actually reproduce this at higher levels and only one or two will do it at reference levels (I have one of them...the Danley Labs DTS-20...it is 7 feet tall). Also, the better shaker systems will do a good job with this disc (the Buttkicker LFE's and Clark Synthesis Gold and Platinums).
Two other good films that have good, extended LFE are the last in the Star Wars saga, and one of my reference discs...the Chronicles of Riddick which has a lot of LFE scattered thru out the film. For music DVD's, try Blue Man Group...The Complex Rock Tour. Not only a good disc sonically, but hard to reproduce well on video because of the lighting, and a hell of a lot of fun to boot.

My dad and I installed a high dollar sound system for a guy awhile back (he owns an electronics shop) and the guy put in the remake of Gone in 60 Seconds to test it out. I was very impressed with the sound quality of this movie, and it definately shows off the low frequencies well.

This is going to sound crazy compared to what everyone else has said, but the first 5 minutes of "Toy Story 2" have awesome audio for subwoofers. I mean, I show it off to everyone and they always are impressed.

I dont know what your choice in movies are, Lord of the Rings is great to try your system out, but if you have a time constraint try
The original Lion King, when the animals stampede its gives your subwoffer a work out.
