The microwave transmitter emits the signal in the 2.5 GHZ Gigahertz range and this must travel through a properly tuned conductor in transit to the antenna. This precisioned machined device is called the waveguide. Note: Radio waves in the 2.5 gigahertz frequency range have an interesting property: they are absorbed by water, fats and sugars.

i think its a waveguide. focuses the microwave energy into the chamber.
