Do you think it is true that by 2048, we will not have no more fish left. Not unless scientist clone them or something. But even like that it wouldn't be the same. Think about it if it does happen, probably your grandchildren or you grandchildren's children won't have an idea of what a fish was. I heard this on the television & internet.

I don't know where you saw or read this, but I would really suspect it's accuracy. Beside the other problems mentioned, or not covered above by Jamie T.,as there are too many to cover here. If it does happen, we probably won't be here either. Our very existence depends heavily on the oceans of the world. Most of the oxygen you breath comes from the oceans, and the rest from land vegetation. I am no expert, but with no fish, or very little fish it would probably destroy the ecosystem of the oceans and disrupt the oxygen supply we depend on so much.

this is not true either ... we have a lot less fish in the oceans now then we used to. we dont realize how much we pollute our oceans ...everything from littering to farming creates an impact on our fish ... all the wastes have to go somewhere, they seep into the groundwater and to rivers which lead to the ocean .. there are "dead zones" at the end of rivers for example the mississippi ... the farmers use more chemicals then they need and refuse to stop ... they use too much fertilizer thinking it will help their plants but in actuallity it does nothing extra .... all this found its way through the ground water to the river and now almost the whole area below la has no marine life because these chemicals take the dissolved oxygen out of the water

another reason would be because of all the dams we build .. these dams completely change the environmental area around it changing the wildlife including the fish who can no longer find there way through for example when they try to swim up river to spawn and all of a sudden theres a block in there way , most of them cant get around it even if they make a pathway for them which is stopping a lot of reproduction

we may still have fish but over the years the population has definately decreased

this was an article published in Science magazine. it was a very alarmist point of view (even the author was quoted at one point saying that he gave that early of a date to only bring attention to an issue). most modern fisheries have changed ways and are on the correct track. look up the article and read it. then find the rebuttals that many a fisheries scientists have written. the way that this author came up with that date is not very scientific, he just extended a curve on a graph without taking into account all the changes many fisheries have undergone.

you sound like and itelligent girl so dont believe eveything you read or hear on television or the internet.
15 years ago a bunch of scientists and hollywood types sent out a press release saying that if we didnt clean up the oceans, it would be incapable of supporting life within 10 years. okay, that was FIFTEEN years ago and today we are still pulling unknown species of fish and mamals out the the ocean. was it three years ago some fishermen in greenland pulled a shark out of the sea that everybody thought was extinct for almost 20 million years.
this planet is very capable of cleaning itself and the earths filters are fascinating. dont worry, we'll have fish on this planet for a zillion years to come.
