I am going to be co-leading a therapy group very soon. We are working on stress reduction. Does anyone know any good activities for stress reduction? Do you know any group leading strategies that would fit this criteria?

get everyone a stress ball--if you have each person talk about their life and what makes it stressful, they're going to get tense even just talking about it, so this is where the stress ball would come it; just tell them when they start to feel tense just take a deep breath and continually squeeze the stress ball, which would relieve the stress..hopefully then after they get used to using it, when they are outside of therapy they will either be able to calm themselves down by mentally picturing squeezing the ball or carrying it around with them. You could also have them do some breathing exercises, it has been found that people who are in constant stressful situations tend to have a higher residual of carbon dioxide in their bodies, they develop ulcers easier and faster, and heart problems have the tendency to occur more frequently. Another idea would be to have each person write down their typical schedule for one week, and then have them identify which time of the week seems to be the most stressful, and then talk to them about things they could do to make it less stressful. Hope this helps!! :)

God Almighty is Great Healer.

In the Beginning God created heavens and earth.
God gives you air to breathe and sunshine to enjoy.
God gives you water to drink and food to eat.
God gives you a wonderful body and sound mind, to live.
God loves you, and you are precious to Him.
Son of God died on the Cross to save us from condemnation.
Jesus’ love is boundless and everlasting.
We have the hope of Heaven through Jesus.
Life therefore has fantastic and glorious future!

How did you get picked to lead? Anyway, try some group relaxation exercises. You'll find many of these on CD or DVD at your local health food store.
