I am putting in new cherry wood laminate flooring in my condo. Not sure what color base molding I should put. My coworkers suggested a wood color that matches the floor but I have looked in magazine and most of the time they are just plain white? I like things to look very modern what do you suggest?

Sometimes you match the color to the color of your door and window trim. Matching to the floor is tough, because first, it's hard to match, and second, you want to create a seperation between your floor and your wall. Look at magazines and get ideas. I had custom trim done in my house, and I matched the door and window trim color and design to my base moulding. If you're installing cherry flooring which is dark, you may want to go with a clor that's going to compliment the floor without oo much contrast. Like if you went with a taupe wall color, you may want to go with a light cream color for your base moulding. Just and example. Good luck! I would go with a color that accents the wall. Typically the big home stores (Lowe's, Home Depot) have color swatches in their paint sections that have groups or families of colors that go well together. Find one that matches your walls, then find an accenting color for your trim. I would even paint the door trim the same color. Traditionally white is the favorite, but more modern tastes go for off whites, wood grains, or even colors.

Just find what you like and go for it.

First, decide if you want your molding to pop out at you or be subtle. If you have pretty molding and want it to be noticed, buy the plain white type and paint it an accent color. This is a very modern look.
