I'm a Christian, and I fully support everyone's right to freely worship as they choose (so long as it doesn't harm another, i.e. human sacrifice, etc.). It is one of the founding principals of our country, and should not for any reason be violated. Having said that, I also understand that the First Amendment states that the government cannot interfere with religion, but it does not say that religion cannot enter the government. You will not find the words Separation of Church and State anywhere in the Constitution. Those words were taken out of context from a letter written by Thomas Jefferson to a small church assuring that church that the government was not going to interfere with their worship.

As a Christian who knows a lot of Christians, we do not abhor religious freedom; we thank GOD for it. We think that you can worship anyone or anything that you want. However, we pray that you will decide to come to the LORD and have eternal life. I can't understand why anyone would choose to worship themselves, a cow or some other entity over a GOD who loves you so much that HE would come to earth and die in your place just so he could have a relationship with you. No other religion out there even comes close to that. Why would you choose anything else.

Some PEOPLE abhor freedom of religion because of fear. They want the comfort that comes from everyone believing exactly the way they believe.

If a person cannot rationally defend their religion - either because of a lack of knowledge, an inability to articulate arguments, or lack of genuine faith - they fear being challenged.

Personally, I love to be challenged on my Religious beliefs - because it motivates me to look deeper into my religion's teachings, and helps me to build up my Faith. I have yet to encounter an argument against my Religion that has not already been adressed at some time, so I can usually get help from others regarding such attacks.

It's fun!
