go to rock springs, wyoming. it isn't quite hell, but you can see it from there!

neil -- hell is a myth. it's part of a bigger myth/fairy tale called the bible. relax. yuou'll be fine even without a crutch called "bible" to help you thru life. many people are fine without it. lose the fairy tale and embrace intelligence.

First of all, hell is not cold, or hot.
The "burning" sensation is one way of describing pain, and believe me when I say that hell is painful.
The night my aunt, who was heavily into the occult, died, my mom and I both had the same vision.
In it, each of us was floating through utter darkness, not slowly or quickly, but the sensation was that of...desolation. Hopelessness. It's hard to describe, but it gives me goosebumps just thinking about it, more than ten years later.
Each of us kept feeling evil beings brushing against us...I can only guess that they were demons, or other damned souls.
But there was this feeling that we were utterly alone. There was nothing...except fear -no, TERROR- and hopelessness so palpable I could almost taste it.
I could hear my aunt's voice crying out, "What am I doing here? I don't belong here...!"
My mom and I were both awakened by the sound of the phone ringing. My heart was still pounding, and it took a good hour or two before it stopped. In addition to that, even though my cousin called at two or three in the morning to tell us that her mother (my aunt, obviously) had passed away, neither my mom NOR I slept anymore that night.
Hell is no laughing matter. It's very real.

In God’s presence, on a predestined day, all people, all living beings, the world, the sun, the moon, the stars, in brief, all the material world will disappear. In the Qur'an, this day is called the “Day of Resurrection”. This is “...the Day mankind will stand before the Lord of all the worlds” The Holy Qur'an, Chapter 83, Verse 6. On that day, a person will be too occupied to worry about others. He will even abandon his own mother, father, spouse and children.

The intensity and inconceivable terror of the Day of Resurrection will make everyone concern himself over his own affairs. God describes the Day of Resurrection as follows:
What will convey to you what the Day of Judgement is? Again! What will convey to you what the Day of Judgement is? It is the Day when a soul will have no power to help any other soul in any way. The command that Day will be God’s alone. The Holy Qur'an, Chapter 82, Verses 17-19

When the Deafening Blast comes, that Day a man will flee from his brother and his mother and his father, and his wife and his children: on that Day every man among them will have concerns enough of his own. The Holy Qur'an, Chapter 80, Verses 33-37

And thus the most precious social bonds in this life will come to a bitter end. The terror of that day will render all close relations and kinship meaningless. The only precious thing remaining will be faith:
Then when the Trumpet is blown, that Day there will be no family ties between them; they will not be able to question one another. Those whose scales are heavy are the successful ones. Those whose scales are light are the losers of their souls, remaining in Hell timelessly, for ever. The Holy Qur'an, Chapter 23, Verses 101-103

Bonds and family ties break down in such a way that people would give their so-called beloved sons, spouses, brothers and even all their relatives in ransom for their own salvation:
No good friend will ask about his friend, even though they can see each other. An evil-doer will wish he could ransom himself from the punishment of that Day, by means of his sons, or his wife or his brother or his family who sheltered him or everyone else on earth, if only that meant that he could save himself. But no! It is a Raging Blaze. The Holy Qur'an, Chapter 70, Verses 10-15

This “offer” is actually an indication of the pitiless and ungrateful nature of disbelievers which surface when their benefits are in question. This offer also warns of the vanity of this life. Often a person chases after trivial goals; for an admirable job, a beautiful house, or a woman, and for money he will work for a lifetime. However, as the Qur'an informs us, in his desperate efforts to be saved, a person will be willing to pay, not just a single woman, but all the women in the world or all possible possessions in ransom for his own personal salvation. However, these are all futile efforts. God is essentially the owner of all the possessions in the world. Salvation, on the other hand, remained behind, in the worldly life. It is too late now and, as promised, hellfire has already started burning.

Aaa, look around, if what U see can't give U a slight image of what is it like, then nothing will... 'heaven' isn't the place where angels sing nor U fly above fluffy clouds and 'hell' isn't the place where U burn for all eternity... When U die, ur body stays in the ground and Ur spirit/soul/aura, call it whatever u want, that is the thing that goes either to 'heaven' or 'hell'.... So U wouldn't literally 'burn' nor 'fly'... But then again, these r only bed time stories... Once U die, U r dead... Simple as that...

Well in hell I can't imagine they have 24 hour days and 7 days in 1 week. I think that hell would be more like all of the great sins that are so fun to do will be there for the taking but JUST out of reach for all of time. But I'm an atheist...so I'll get back to you on that.

Hell is the realization that you had a great opportunity and did not take it. It is the knowledge of your offense towards God. It is not wanting to be in the presence of God because of your wickedness.
There will be no coffee breaks from your guilt and there will be no barbecues. You can take a fire extinguisher with you if you want, but it will not extinguish the guilt you feel when all is revealed.

It's the grave of dead humans. God can reveal what happens after people die, and he has done so in his written Word, the Bible. This is what the Bible says: "As the [beast] dies, so the [man] dies; and they all have but one spirit . . . All are going to one place. They have all come to be from the dust, and they are all returning to the dust." (Ecclesiastes 3:19, 20) There is no mention here of a fiery hell. Humans return to dust—to nonexistence—when they die.

In order to be tormented, a person has to be conscious. Are the dead conscious? Once again, the Bible gives the answer: "The living are conscious that they will die; but as for the dead, they are conscious of nothing at all, neither do they anymore have wages, because the remembrance of them has been forgotten." (Ecclesiastes 9:5) It is impossible for the dead, who are "conscious of nothing at all," to experience agony anywhere.

So, unlike what people have learned at church, hell is nothing more than the common grave.

HELL IN KJV
One Hebrew word “sheol” is rendered hell. Definition; hades or the world of the dead (as if a subterranian retreat), grave, hell, pit. Three Greek words are rendered hell; geenna, hades, and tartaroo. Definition of geenna; a valley of Jerusalem, used (figuratively) as a name for the place (or state) of everlasting punishment: - hell. Definition of hades; properly unseen, that is, “Hades” or the place (state) of departed souls: - grave, hell. Definition of tartaroo; (the deepest abyss of Hades); to incarcerate in eternal torment: - cast down to hell. Tartaroo is used only one place II Pet.2:4.
Christ teaching the Pharisees in Luke 16:19-31 shows us a separation from God is truly what hell is. The “water” is symbolic for God’s Spirit and love. The word “tormented” means distressed in the Greek, not torture. The “fire” is symbolic for the shame and desire not to be separated from God.
So all who die the first death of the flesh return to God Ecc.12:6-7, but on which side of the gulf do they end up?
Hell is not eternal but is done away with in Rev.20:14-15, called both the second death and lake of fire. This second death is non-existence, for death and hell and those not written in the book of life. This second death or lake of fire is like fat drippings that fall into the fire. Just a poof of smoke into non-existence.
Psa.37:20 But the wicked shall perish, and the enemies of the LORD shall be as the fat of lambs: they shall consume; into smoke shall they consume away.
In my mind what’s worse yet is no memory of you, no tears will be shed for you like you never existed.
Rev.21:4 And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.
So hell is a separation from God and is not eternal torture or burning. Eventually hell will be done away with or passed away and also some souls. Like fat drippings in the fire, a poof of smoke into non-existence, the second death.

There are many different interpretations of the underworld. From my own experience hell can be described as knowing that god and all that you love is so close, but you can only see it in the distance, never able to reach it.

It's a state of being created by your own materialist desires that seperate you from the cosmic consciousness and you don't need to die to be in it. Anybody that clings to religious dogma or pursues self-gratification is in hell and they won't escape it until they finally realise their oneness with the divine.
