We need to bring a Camcorder for relatives in So. America.
They are interested in the Sony DCR SR 100 (it varies in price between $650-$850 from a quick internet search). I would appreciate any input from users of newer camcorders.

Yes, I have a Sony camcorder with Mini DVR. It records on mini DVDs, and once you finalize the DVDs (it's really simple), you can just put it into your DVD player. You don't have connect lots of wires, like with tapes.
But if they don't have a DVD player, this isn't such a good choice.

yes, i have one MINIDV and i am very happy with it...
a basic MIniDV or MINIDVD camcorder from SONY Will be the best option
