Some perhaps. But are atheists too arrogant to accept the fact that perhaps they might be wrong?
The fact is that the things you describe happen in all families, in all groups. You can blame a religion if you wish, but the reality is that religion has very little to do with conflicts such as these. Thus, to say that your family was plagued with conflict because of christian dogmatic differences is kind of silly. My family does not have these problems, so perhaps the conflicts speak more about the way your family practiced the religion, than in the religion itself. Also, keep in mind atheists have just as many family conflicts as religious people, just over different matters.

firstly, if we had 100% scientific proof we were right, than it wouldnt be faith- Faith is accepting you could be wrong but staying true to your convictions.
as far as divisions within the churches?
do you think God or Christ really care if you use music withyour service? If you fellowship in the church complex?
The people who cause the problems are those who see the church not as a place to be humble, quiet, and dwell on the lessons the Bible would pass to us,but those who see it as just another political arena.
The best church, in my opinion, is a group of friends loving each others company, and in thier own ways thanking God for thier blessings. We dont need a man or woman educated by a Seminary to translate the Bible, or any other faith. People should have a direct connection to thier faith, and not depend on someone else, a fallible human to tell them what to believe.

Gary I would say that was proven true by the Catholic Church. I mean they lied about pedophiles, defended them, hid them, moved them around so they could rape more little boys.
THERE in Vatican City is your nest of Satan
As for Christians it ranges...some here have 100% belief and 0% idea that they could be wrong...some do realize they could be wrong. In either case neither is a problem or wrong
The arrogance comes when one tries to force you to do things their way "for your own good" even if they decide to save you they must kill you.
THAT is what this whole "people will be deceived" prophecy stuff...when they abandon all their teachings of peace and tolerance for violence and hatred.

Things like this do happen and I'm sorry it has made you turn against God.Satan likes nothing more than division within a christian community. But you know we are human and pride can blind us and get in the way of doing what is right.

25 years, huh? Wow. Yup, we Christians do have dogmatic differences, and guess what, the Bible itself was not put there so that we could all have a comfortable religion & lots of group hugs. Crack it open again and read it.

Though these things go on around me too, I have not changed my faith. I don't see it as a battle. There are the few that make the whole look bad in many faiths. The key is respecting others views.

I'm not afraid to admit I might be wrong. I thought I was, at one time...for twelve years.
I don't put much stock into humankind now. The teachings of Christ are perfect; people are not. Instead of focusing on what everyone else is doing, and worrying about differences of opinion, I pray to God for guidance in my life, and focus on my own walk.
I'm sorry about your family, I really am...but such things happen in EVERY religion, and even in non-Christian families.
It's human nature, that's all.

I believe in people and not religion...
religion is a mind control tool designed just for that to attempted to exact control on society through fake stories of God.
this websites news.faithfreedom.org is not anti-religious but it is a good place for everyone especially muslims and extremist to be able to debate instead of hate!

this is a strong argument worth hearing and responding to. You are correct doctrine and people are foolish and stubborn when it comes to their views. However, this does not and should not relfect on the truth of God. Just because man is tainted does not nullify the word. You are allowing the actions of others to rob you of your relationship with God. Although it may not have been satan who provoked this it is him that keeps your eyes on it and not God.

Sorry you feel that way. A lot of Christians are wrong. If they can admit that, they are closer to the truth. I am not arrogant, but I know there is a God. The details aren't important to me, neither is arguing. My goal is to serve God.
