Never had this before. I carry on regrdless. Is this a sign for something? I soemtimes drink red bull befor a workout, but on the last occation, id had a coffee an hour befor hand. im only 23! I rarely suffer tightening in the chest when im worrying abiout something and shallow breathing. Few weeks ago doc gave me beta blockers but i thought it was pointless as it was all in the mind so really i shouldnt stress myself. But i dont think this has anything to do with it.

Just read a BBC article on caffine and excercise and apparently athelites drink coffee befor working out cos it improves stamina. And cyclists drink it during working out too. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/health/3122319.stm

This is unsettling. If you are experiencing chest pain, pressure , or any discomfort during INTENSE workouts that could mean that your heart is being stressed.

Chest pain usu. derives from a lack of O2 to the cells of the heart muscle. This means something is impeding the delivery of O2 (like plaque or a clot).

You need to back off of the workouts until you see a doctor. Not trying to scare you, but it could be significant.

The doctor can check you by some painless, non invasive tests:

EKG: Monitors the electrical activity of the heart.

Stress test: Monitors the electrophysiology after pushing the heart to high heart rates after walking on a treadmill, then taking scans to determine if any heart muscle is lacking O2 after the exercise session.

Blood markers: Usu. performed after the initial complaint of chest pain, to determine if there is an elevation in cardiac enzymes which are indicative of destruction of heart muscle.

Make an appointment and take it easy.

It could be angina (lack of oxygen to the heart) or heart palpitations caused by the caffeine. Lay off the red bulls and coffee... they make the heart pump faster anyway, so combined with the hard working out its no wonder your chest hurts.

Sounds like you are pushing yourself to hard and may be working your heart to hard which can be dangerous, check your pulse and make sure you are within your heart rate target zone. also red bull and coffee speed up the heart. I would also make a quick call to your Dr. to see if he/she thinks you should bee seen by them , as is always recommend contact your Dr. before starting a exercise program

The caffeine in espresso and in activities beverages does impact your coronary heart fee a would not advise you drink something different than a pair of pints of water in the previous a artwork out. If it persists i could go on your surgeon, you have gotten a coronary heart murmur. it fairly is purely great throughout the time of exercising.

You did not give your age, etc. Probably a question for your doctor. Your doctor might want to double check to be sure that these is not a serious issue going on with your heart. Better safe then sorry...
