Usually a urine sample is taken the second full day as a screening device against any ilicit drugs that you might have in your system.It's not just the Coast Guard it's all branches get used to it.

I didn't go through Coast Guard, but in the Marines we were tested whenever anyone saw fit. Some places have policies that if you are late for work, you have to give a sample. MEPS will take a sample and when you get to boot you will give a sample in the two or three days. They do test for masking agents as well. If you are just a once in a while type recreational user, you probably shouldn't worry, but if you use all the time, then you will probably have a problem. Of course, if you have decided you don't want to go and think that pissing hot will get you out of it, it will, but the consequences of that are much more far-reaching than you might imagine.

Can't speak for the Coast Guard, but when I joined the Air Force we had to give a urine sample at the Military Entrance Processing Station (MEPS) before we got on the plane for San Antonio.

At ANY time your told to.....why?
Are you doing drugs prior to going?
You asked about the coast guard three months ago, so it is apparent that you knew you were going in....should have stayed clean! We don't need druggies in any branch of service!
Hope your caught...then you will never get a good federal job anywhere in the world.

As stated I had one when I went through MEPS before leaving for basic. As well as one during our 1st full week. I was in AF.

you will be screened prior to going to boot camp. If you fail it, you don't go to boot camp. simple as that.

random drug testing, no set day. I suggest you get clean if your seriously attempting a government position
