Hotwire or Priceline are probably your best best. I would compare both, but keep in mind that you travel by DAY not by TIME with these. Part of the tradeoff of their deals is that times of flights are not revealed until you decide to book. So just plan an extra day on either end before booking.

I agree with "tat 4 lulu". Airlines generally have extra seats sometimes for emergencies like these. Go to the airport counter, and request them for the next flight out.

Airlines usually offer family emergency/ bereavement fares which is the lowest fare on the given route.
In order to get one you will have to the name of the hospital and attending physician available when you call the airlines
As a rule the return dates are open ended or can be changed w/o incurring a penalty

Go to lastminutedeals.com OR tell the airline of your dilema. They will charge you full price but upon receipt/records of your actually emergency they will refund you.

or you could drive or take a train that ios probably cheaper but atlanta to where dallas is for about the mid 200's and from atlanta to austin is about 700 dollars one stop there is a multi stop one that is in the three hundreds but just go to www.delta.com
