The Vinegar Institute says that it does not. If your vinegar has sediment in it, you can line a strainer with a coffee filter and filter the vinegar.
How Long Does Vinegar Last?
The Vinegar Institute conducted studies to find out and confirmed that vinegar’s shelf life is almost indefinite. Because of its acid nature, vinegar is self-preserving and does not need refrigeration. White distilled vinegar will remain virtually unchanged over an extended period of time. And, while some changes can be observed in other types of vinegars, such as color changes or the development of a haze or sediment, this is only an aesthetic change. The product can still be used and enjoyed with confidence.

LOL .... does it sour..... the answer is .....
Yes it will sour ...... I found out first hand that White Vinegar will spoil also when drank......ewwwwwww yuck
Made a mistake back in the summer when my husband had a bad sunburn and I heard that vinegar was good for it, to take out the stinging sensation..... well low and behold I rubbed him down before bed and he said that it helped some, but then I made one of the biggest mistakes of my life.... I sat the bottle next to my bed on the nightstand just in case he needed any more ....well I always keep my water bottle there too.... just remember both bottles were the same size.....low and behold he woke me at 3am and needed more I was so tired and thirsty when he woke me up and i needed a drink before helping him out ..... dummy and tired me tipped the wrong bottle and before I realized what i was doing i had drank a big gulp of that vinegar!!!!!! OMG talk about spitting and gagging White vinegar is not a fun thing to drink, needless his sunburn was helped but my stomach was curdled the entire day..... I even called the local hospital to see what i could do to help my stomach! They said nothing more than drinking alot of water..... ewwwwwwww yuck!! One valuable lesson was here ...That you should never leave a vinegar bottle next to your water bottle and wake up tired for a drink. LMAO
Thanks for letting me share my dumb *** attack!!

The acid in the viegar will keep for many years, due to the ability to kill of most bacteria.
In some cases, bottles of wine that have been stored for centuries have turned to vinegar but are still usable.

If the appearance of it hasn't changed, it's probably still good. But I just threw some out yesterday at my dad's house. It had gotten darker...and had 'seperated'...and there were setiments in the bottom of the bottle.

If it smells ok, then it's fine .. spoiled vinegar gets a thin white or cloudy film .. and it smells rancid.

It can spoil and get moldy but if it is unopened it is probably still good.
