When I ask a girl out I tend not to use the "d" word. Should I start using it when I ask girls out? Does the word "date" scare girls?

I don't think so....It doesn't scare me :). I guess it depends on the situation and the individual involved. Sometimes "date" can suggest something definite and may imply that you expect something to develop out of the situation. To keep it safe you might want to casually suggest going out to a movie, a dinner or wherever you you plan on taking her for the occasion. Even though it is in essence a date, you probably should refrain from referring to it as such. Make her feel comfortable enough to know that you aren't necessarily expecting anything and things may just unfold naturally.

There may be instances where the girl you're considering will recognize that dating is simply a means of exploring relationship *possibilities* and won't find the "d" word scary. Such persons usually accept that dating is merely an important first step towards something that MAY develop into something more and should not be overly considered.

Well, I hope this helped. Good luck :).

The word date does not scare girls it scares boys..boys always think that if you say the word "date" that there should be more there or something more is going to happen. That just comes from mixed messaging, all you guys have to say it what you mean...if you want a casual get together say that you want a casual get together and there are not strings attached weather it be sex or going out. If you want a date make sure that both of you have the same definition of a date.

the word "date" doesn't scare us but it can make us a little anxious because we want to make a good first impression, we are worried if the guy wants something in return for the date (sex) , and also to see if the guy taking us out is going to be a jerk or he may be the real deal. The word "date isn't scary, it's all that is involved with the date that is. I know I haven't been on a date in years and if someone asked me I would be so anxious myself about it.

The word doesn't scare girls. Just ask them calmly if they will go out with you, or if they will be your girl. Most of the time something romantic goes along great too. Like a single rose and then ask them to go out with you. That always gets me.

I think it's good. In my opinion, if a guy asked me out that I wasn't sure about and he mentioned to take me on a date I wouuld probably say yes because it means a one time thing and then I can decide after that. It doesn't confuse with, do you want to be my girlfriend. For those that do really like you, it's also a good thing because it shows a little traditional-ness in you (if that's a word). Anyway, good luck, and date it up! ;)

Not me. Maybe if you just go up to them all of a sudden and ask them on a date then they might think it's kindda weird.
