A question only asked by those who can think.

People tend to be very ignorant in trying to understand something that isnt within their norms to them. So they first critisize it, mock it and finally curse its name. Basic human rage and arrogance.

I think religions are insulted as people tend to fear the most what they understand the least.
As a whole I personally believe that a lot of the worlds wars and conflicts can be attributed to religion. Im not saying Im against religion as everyone should have something they believe in, but it does have a lot to answer for.

Consider what some Yank athiest claimed... If the athiest wasn't free to believe as he pleases, to believe that there is nothing to believe in, he would have an argument.
What it comes down to is... freedom of religion doesn't mean freedom from religion.
And a good many Yank believers are apparently sick and tired of Athiests and other bozos infringing on their right to believe and express their faith.
Can't say I blame them!

Why insult religion? I'll tell you why. Because in the bible it says that those who do not believe in the fairytale mythical god are an abomination. If the bible (and therefore religion) wants to accuse me of being an abomination amongst other things, I think they deserve everything they get back. F*cking d*ck-brained hypocrites.

you are free to believe what you want to believe but people insult religion because certain religious groups take their religious beliefs too far and try to blow people up! they are going to be insulted then because they have committed that act as part of their so called religion, and therefore deserve to be insulted.

The answers that say we in the United States are not free to not believe must be feeling sorry for themselves....I have not found that to be the case.....be open to others opinions and they will be open to yours as been my experience over my life.....funny how that works...when I attack the beliefs of others they attack mine....Take a stance to ban something and it gets stronger....so if you want religion to go down stop attacking it so hard...go underground and behind the scenes and you will be more affective.

i don't think it's as simple as either believing or not believing. i personally don't insult religion though i find it difficult when those who claim to believe pass judgement on my lifestyle. and they can be quite cruel. i think it's just as ignorant to claim you know god exists as it is to claim you know god doesn't exist. we probably will never know the truth. which is sad because if we did the world would probably be a much happier place...... which begs the question why doesn't He give us a definite answer then?

you are bang on, today you are frowned upon if you have faith or don't have faith the individual cannot win as believers slate non-believers and believer of other faiths, and non believers will slate believers of all faiths.

captain athiesm, that clip is spot on, some religion is forced, and that is against human rights. you have a right to have faith or not, and have the right to be treaed equally regardless of faith.

You are free to keep your Jesus off my penis and quit with the "faith based" laws. You have only alienated the non believers and wasted every ones time trying to enact unconstitutional laws and the only thing there is to show is me hating you.

I think people believe in god due to a lack of critical thinking and intelligence so I insult them. I'm a jerk.

That is true............. shows that ones that do are basically wasting their time unless they are exposing false teachings.

Remember Jesus did alot of that with regard to the Pharisees:

“Woe to YOU, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! because YOU build the graves of the prophets and decorate the memorial tombs of the righteous ones, 30 and YOU say, ‘If we were in the days of our forefathers, we would not be sharers with them in the blood of the prophets.’ 31 Therefore YOU are bearing witness against yourselves that YOU are sons of those who murdered the prophets. 32 Well, then, fill up the measure of YOUR forefathers" -Matthew 23:29-32
