Yes, folks, my beautiful baby boy got a black permanent magic marker that my dear husband (dumb***ss, sh**t 4 brains---no that's bad don't say that calm down and put the bullets away) left laying around. Baby boy marked ALL OVER a beautiful old solid oak desk and I can't find anything to remove it.

Please help mama before she goes bonkers (for those who are the serious type no, I'm not really gonna shoot up my ol' man just joking---and venting hehe). All help appreciated, folks.

OMG my son did this to my brand NEW sofa. DO NOT use acetone (most told me this) it will ruin things, which I knew and didnt try. I would invest in OOPS. You can buy it at walmart for under about $8 I am sure. It will get rid of it. I would also suggest buying mr clean magic erasers. I LOVE them. I always have a box at my house. They clean up the unimaginable. They cleaned up magic marker on my walls with no chemicals. Might try them first if they dont work then try the oops.

Oh goodness, I have definitely been there! My son drew all over our doors in permanent marker once, my computer desk another time, our brand new oak coffee table still another time, and then several pieces of antique furniture one day when we were visiting my mother-in-law (I think she almost had a coronary...and for once I couldn't blame her!). My husband ALSO left the permanent marker in reach of my son!

I tried seemingly everything: hair spray, Goo Gone, OOPS!, rubbing alcohol, nail polish remover, a pencil eraser...and anything else I could think of. Unfortunately nothing was able to take the permanent marker off, without ruining the finish of the furniture. My oak coffee table I ended up having to sand down and refinish and everything else I pretty much just had to hide. I hope you can find something, and if you do, please be sure to share!

I'm with everyone that says Mr. Clean Magic Eraser. I've gotten permanent marker off my stainless steel fridge and Crayon off of the crevices on the side of my TV. I'm pretty sure it won't damage the wood either but it may affect the finish so only do a small area first to test.

Leave the bullet holes alone and put the desk in a prominent place. Think of the war stories you can make up whenever someone notices the desk. Btw, if the desk is an antique, don't ever repair the holes, I've seen too many people on the Antiques Roadshow completely ruin a piece worth a gazillion dollars by making repairs.

You can remove permanent marker from wood with an ordinary pencil eraser. I've done this, and it really does work.

Try hairspray? It works for crayon and marker on the walls.

Goo Gone & Opps are basically the same thing and they are both fantastic!!! You can use it for all sorts of stuff. Good Luck.
