Without knowing the particulars, I'd say the conflicts are similar to those faced anywhere a beautiful rural area is being "invaded" by development. The local governance is overwhelmed by high-powered investors and doesn't understand the far-reaching implications of city people moving into the area. Taxes, water availability, sewage, traffic, schools, shopping availability, fire and police protection are only a few of the issues the quiet local people will encounter from newcomers who don't hardly even speak the same kind of English.
It's possible the newcomers may be politically savvy enough to take over the local towns and then be able to sway the local laws their own way.

Sorry... I don't know if there are other problems, such as mining, environmental issues or a new power plant under consideration.

I have a conflict with the weather here today. Hmm.. that's about it. I have not noticed any wars going on here in Yorkshire.

With regard to what? Housing/environment/families?
I had an argument with my gf the other night, does that count as a major conflict?
