Don't know about allergic reaction, but I know for a fact that a friend of friend died recently. It was very sudden. Healthy, clever, sporty, young guy. Just fell of his bike and died instantly. Was in the newspapers and everything. Story goes, it was because of the ephedra in the gym supplements he was taking, that caused it.

Ephedra seems to speed up the metabolism and, according to some experts, Ephedra even burns fat. The internal warming Ephedra creates can also increase energy and stamina in some individuals. The reason ephedra can be useful in weight loss is in its ability to suppress appetite and speed up the metabolism at the same time.
Ephedra can also act as an effective decongestant, and has been a popular ingredient in many over the counter cold and allergy medicines. Experts say ephedra has the same chemical reactions that cause a person’s bronchial passageways to clear up.
Whether you are interested in Ehpedra for weight loss or Ephedra to help releive the symptoms of colds and allergies, be sure and follow instructions included with the product. Anyone with high blood pressure or thyroid disease should use ehpedra-based products under a health care practitioner’s supervision, and take only the recommended doseage.

Usually numbness in the lips and jaw is due to a deficit in your blood level of calcium (or vit D, which is needed to absorb calcium). You may not be absorbing enough because you are not digesting food long enough, or your body is losing too much acid (vomiting, suppliments increasing the pH of your body), and you are not able to use the calcium in your system. Are you taking laxatives or is the suppliment you are taking giving you diarrhea? Vit D is fat-soluable, if you are not consuming enough fat or if you are taking suppliments that bind to fat and remove it from your body, then vit D can be excreted with it.
I would suggest you go to the doctor for a routine checkup involving blood chemistry for electrolytes (they usually do this during your physical anyway). Imbalances can be very serious, since both calcium deficiency and ephedra use affect your heart function. Try to stop the dietary suppliments, other than multivitamins, to allow your system to return to balance.
A healthy balanced diet low in saturated fat is the best way to lose weight. Get a kitchen scale and pay attention to portion size and calorie intake. You will quickly learn which foods fill you up the most for the least amount of calories. (high fiber, low in simple carbs). One hour of exercise that increases your heart rate every day is the suggested method.

Megan Ephedra is really bad for you...find a diet aid without it, yes you can get all sorts of allergic reactions plus it can ruin your kidneys. Find an alternative.

Here is a site with all the info you might need about ephedra.
Vomiting is a side effect and also a sign of overdose. Be very careful with this drug. It can be fatal.
