In Leviticus 11:8 it says "Of their flesh you shall not eat, and their carcase you shall not touch, they are unclean to you"
Why not listen to this? When Jesus came did he tell you to go ahead and dig into some BBQ Pork ribs or what?
Why did this law change for christians when it is in their bible to not eat it?

Thankyou L'Chaim. That is a differant perspective. For me the Jewish faith makes sense much much more than chrisitianity, which I have trouble understanding.

The Torah (Old Testament) is the story of God and His chosen people, Israel. The only laws that applied to non-Israelites were the Noahide Laws. The 613 laws of the Bible applied (and still apply) only to Jews; some of the laws only applied in the land of Israel itself.
Christianity was only one of the many differing versions of Judaism of the time. It became necessary for Paul to break away from Judaism because he couldn't find converts willing to be circumcized and to follow the 613 commandments required of Jews.

Modern sanitary practices make it a lot safer to eat, but you do have a point. And if you followed all the rules in the bible, you'd be doing some pretty strange things... animal sacrifice if you have an affair? What would you do... kill a steer and throw a barbecue with a big sign up that "I had an affair - come over for a steak!"??? Besides, isn't Leviticus the Old Testament? Christians believe the New Testament supercedes the old one in a lot of ways, so maybe your answer lies there.

They misinterpret a scripture where God was showing to peter a vision of clean and unclean animals on the same sheet. If you read the verses prior to this vision you will understand that peter is having a hard time accepting the fact that the gentiles(unclean) are just as welcome in God's kingdom as the jews(clean). The Bible never mentions Jesus eating pork, so if it was ok why didn't He? It tells you everything else he ate or did, including the day He went to worship God

Religious answer: The laws in Leviticus and the rest of the Old Testament were mostly man made laws, i.e., stoning to death for wearing clothes made from two different types of thread, selling children into slavery, killing someone for working on Sunday, etc. Jesus wiped all of this away and therefore Christians follow the New Testament more than the Old.
Practical answer: Pig tastes good.

Matthew 15:11 Not that which goeth into the mouth defileth a man; but that which cometh out of the mouth, this defileth a man.
And let us not forget that Jesus was Jewish.
I never could understand why Jesus's bretheran, called for Jesus to be crucified after He was exonorated of any crime, and demanded the release of the convicted murderer Barrabas?
Where does that fit into the old testament laws?
Are you implying that God is not wise enough to make intelligent revisions to His own laws?

This text was written when sanitary conditions weren't what they are in todays world. Trichinosis, a parasitic disease that's caused by eating raw or undercooked pork or wild game. It still exists today in developing countries where pigs are fed raw garbage, and it can also occur in home-reared pigs if the owner doesn't give their pigs preventative medicine. It was simply good common sense to avoid pork back then due to the disease factor.

In Act 11: 1-18 it reads "The apostles and the brothers throughout Judea heard that the Gentiles also had received the word of God. So when Peter went up to Jerusalem, the circumcised believers criticized him and said, "You went into the house of uncircumcised men and ate with them."
Peter began and explained everything to them precisely as it had happened: "I was in the city of Joppa praying, and in a trance I saw a vision. I saw something like a large sheet being let down from heaven by its four corners, and it came down to where I was. I looked into it and saw four-footed animals of the earth, wild beasts, reptiles, and birds of the air. Then I heard a voice telling me, 'Get up, Peter. Kill and eat.'
"I replied, 'Surely not, Lord! Nothing impure or unclean has ever entered my mouth.'
"The voice spoke from heaven a second time, 'Do not call anything impure that God has made clean.' This happened three times, and then it was all pulled up to heaven again.
"Right then three men who had been sent to me from Caesarea stopped at the house where I was staying. The Spirit told me to have no hesitation about going with them. These six brothers also went with me, and we entered the man's house. He told us how he had seen an angel appear in his house and say, 'Send to Joppa for Simon who is called Peter. He will bring you a message through which you and all your household will be saved.'
"As I began to speak, the Holy Spirit came on them as he had come on us at the beginning. Then I remembered what the Lord had said: 'John baptized with[a]water, but you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit.' So if God gave them the same gift as he gave us, who believed in the Lord Jesus Christ, who was I to think that I could oppose God?"
When they heard this, they had no further objections and praised God, saying, "So then, God has granted even the Gentiles repentance unto life."

When Jesus came, He fufilled the law of the Old Testament. We no longer live under the law, but under grace. That is why Jews still do not eat pork They still live under the law, because they are still looking for the Messiah.

Under the Law of Moses this is true, but read Acts 10 in the NEW Testament. It tells us that everything is made clean to eat, not just what The Law of Moses says but everything.
