On ring finger, left or right hand.
Traditionally it was the left hand, however, the right hand is gaining in popularity.

I was given a promise ring after two years of being with my now fiance, and I wore it on my right hand ring finger. That is the best place for it, and I am so glad I did that because now that I am engaged I have my ring new ring on my left hand and its so much more special. I think when a girl wears her promise ring on her left ring finger it takes away the specialness of the acutal engagment ring. To this day I have my promise ring on my right hand and my engagment ring on my left. It looks beautiful.

I wore mine on my left ring finger. It was a promise of the ring and marriage to come. So it seems the most appropriate place. If you're wearing the promise ring, you're as much promised to that person as they are to you. Why not let everyone know.

I'd wear it on my left ring finger. The finger reserved for a Promise ring (which is basically a pre-engagement ring), an engagement ring & wedding ring.
A promise ring should be worn on the left ring finger.

NOT ON YOUR LEFT RING FINGER! I had one and wore it on my left ring finger, thinking that if it's a promise to marry, then I'd replace it with the engagement ring...however, EVERYONE thought I was engaged and was freaking out. That was frustrating. Also, for the record I think that promise rings are stupid. It means, "it's too soon to get married so I'll give you this to tell you I'm serious, but it's too soon to really commit" so a sort of mock engagement ring? It confuses me.

I wore my promise ring on my left ring ring (wedding ring finger). When I got my engagement ring I then switched it over to the right hand.

I've always understood it was to take place of an engagement ring until you get one, so that is on the left hand ring finger.

I wore mine on my left hand ring finger. Since it was a promise of commitment that's where I felt it was appropriate to wear it. Wear yours where ever you would like to wear it.
