Timothy 5:23 and Proverbs 31:6
"Give him strong drink, unto him that is ready to perish
and wine to those that be of HEAVY hearts (depressed)
Let him drink, and forget his Poverty
and remember his misery no more."
Why dont they read that in AA meetins?

It is in the sayings of King Lemuel, which is taken out of some versions of the King James bible, but is indeed in the more ancient manuscripts. It's in the bible that sits in my lap so Im not making it up okay>?

(1Timothy 5:23) Drink no longer water, but use a little wine for thy stomach's sake and thine often infirmities.
As a former cancer patient, I was given Many Prescriptions to deal with effects of Surgery and Radiation Treatments.
I flushed them down the Toilet! As many drugs have Weird Side Effects especially mood swings and emotional side effects, I thought it best to take Scripture as the Prescription! [See above]
I simply mixed 2-parts Manachevits Blackberry Wine with 3-parts Apple Juice [for the pectin in apple juice] AND it worked just fine! I did not need it all the time, and used it when I could not stand the side effects of the radiation! Soon I did not need it at all!
Thanks, RR

Generally speaking; many 'Christians' (currently in the USA) take part of God's word.
Technically speaking , drinking and not drinking (alcohol) are both authorized in God's word. Part of the apparent limitation comes from the desire to control things. There is a use of something; and in most cases, an abuse of the same thing (such as alcohol), so people may condemn any use of alcohol.

Drinking alcohol is acceptable.
The word 'recommended' gives a slight idea of pushing it on people.
Nobody should be pushed to drink.
The proverb to which you refer, refers to people at death's door ....and possibly in alot of pain.
These days we use morphine, or other pain killers.
In those days it was strong drink.

one is recommended to drink just a glass of alcohol per day, because in a small quantity it is good for the heart and it relaxes ur blood pressure too, stimulating ur circulation.
