A rule of thumb used to be that finger size and shoe size were pretty close. Now this doesn't hold true if she is really tall and thin or whatever. But it is at least a starting place.

But the best way is to "borrow" a ring from her. If she doesn't have any rings, just look at the hands of the sales people at the jewelers and go with the size that looks the most like your girl's hands.

Besides...I'm sure that your fiance-to-be won't care if the ring is a little off in the size. I'm engaged and my ring was initially a size and a half too big. I truly didn't care--I was too excited that we were getting married. I've since had it resized and everything is perfect. So...bearing this in mind, it is probably better to guess a little big than small. That way she can still put it on to look at it and it is easier from a jewelers standpoint to reduce a ring than to make it bigger.

Ok, sounds silly, but a girl's ring finger size is usually directly correlated to her shoe size. If she's a size 7 shoe, she's probably a size 7 ring. It may not be exact, but it'll definitely be in the ballpark and then you can have it sized directly for her. I wear a size 6 1/2 shoe, and have a 6 1/4 ring finger size. Close enough.

Otherwise, if there are any rings that she usually wears on that finger (either hand), you can try to borrow it without her knowing and find out the size.

Good luck with everything.

While she is sleep, get a small piece of string and measure the right finger on the left hand! Measure the string on the centimeter side of a measuring tape... and VOILA! That's her ring size.

Don give me credit for the tip! I got it from www.bluenile.com

Getting her ring size out of one of her rings can be tricky because it has to be the correct finger! An unless she was married before, you won;t find rings for that particular finger on her jewelry box.

Congratulations and good luck.

PS/ If you still don't want to give it away, try to guess. If she has small thin fingers, she should be a size 6, average is a size 7, for a plump lady about and 8. You can always get the ring re-sized if it doesn't fit properly.

Again, congrats!

If you can get a hold of a ring she owns that she doesnt wear, you can take that one to a jeweler. Or if not, go with the average size for the ring....most in the stores are around 6-6.5 in size. Most will also resize free of charge. Congrats!

You should tell her, I was going to get my mom a mother's ring for Christmas (it has the birthstones of her kids in it), but I don't know her ring size. How can I find it out? Do women know their ring sizes?

She will say, yes, mine's a size 7 or whatever...and she'll give you a sneaky way to get your mom's ring size--while all the while you're the sneaky one!!!! hehehehe I love this sort of stuff. Good luck!

Ask one of her friends...or if she has another ring that she wears, you can get the size from that. I do not recommend trying to measure her finger while she is sleeping!!! I would definitely wake up it someone did that to me.

It really isn't all that important though, as you can have it sized later.

Just "steal" one of her rings, and bring it with you to the jewellery.
They can easily tell what size it is.
Congrats that's so cute.... wish my boyfriend would do it too *_*

OH don't forget to put back the ring where you took it from

Take a guess. or go with the most common size or if she has bigg hands go a size bigger or if she has small hands go a size smaller. if iut doesnt fit then you can always get it resized later.but if the size is way off tell her you didnt know her size and guessed and know little to nothing about ring sizes she will forgive you im sure

Does she have any rings that she doesn't wear every day? Could you borrow one of those to have sized? Do her friends like you? They might know and be willing to tell you.

Take a ring she doesn't usually wear to the jewellers, they'll be able to tell the size from that. Make sure it's one that fits her though.
