My son was being picked on on the school bus yesterday afternoon. Some bullies were calling him names and some were even kicking him in his throat. The bus driver witnessed the entire thing happening and put my son off the bus 10 miles from in the middle of a snow storm. My son had to walk all that long way by himself. I was outraged. My son was cold, bloody and bruised by the time he has walked all that way.
I went up to that school to complain this morning about what had happened. The principal told me that the driver was within his rights to put my son off the bus as part of the new "man up" law that went into effect on December 1st. He says that this new law states that if a child doesn't man up and defend himself while on the schoool bus then the driver has the right to put you off for your own safety. Is this right? Should my son have been treated like this?? He is only 6 years old. Help please

You are in the wrong. As a driver she has the authority to say who and what gets on her bus and everyone is subject to her search within reason. This is not a school districts rule, this is a federal Department of Transportation rule, which the schoo district has no authority to reverse. The reason this law is in place is because if someone gets on the bus that can distract the driver, like a band hitting her in the back of her head, and the bus gets into an accident, she is liable for the accident. So, to make it within her power to prevent such things happening, she has the legal right to make sure those things are not on her bus. Your argument that one day the child did not have it, so therefore the next day they will not have it either doesn't hold water. Terrorist bombers board planes several times without a bomb to get an idea of when is the best time to wear it. Quit picking on the bus driver, if you do not want her to keep every child on the bus safe by looking at your childs arm and taking off anything like a rubber band that can be flipped and then fly through the air then drive your kids yourself.

No, I don't think there was any right for ANYONE to throw a kid off a bus, let alone 10 miles away from the school and in the middle of a snow storm. If he was getting beat up, the bus driver should have let the school settle that, or stopped what was going on and call you, not put the one who was getting beat up off the bus. It sounds like the bus driver didn't really want to handle the problem or just didn't know how. About the kids beating up a six year old...what's that about? What could they possibly have against a six year old? I think that you all should try to investigate that a little farther, maybe even a conference with everybody involved, because I can't see anybody justifying anything like that.

OK you have to advocate for your child you went to first level no good go to board of education call a lawyer who is a expert in this field ask for a copy of this law from school this is total bull and keep going higher till something is done cause your child is being punished for not being aggressive i just cant wrap my brain around this please for the next child keep going higher ohhh contact local news station see if they will do story on it hugs and kisses to your little man edit : OK i hope this is not made up cause if it is your life is more pathetic than mine and mine is pretty boring you never use your child like this what if something happens and you need help you have done burned your bridges cried wolf and no one hears you plus some people here really do care and take time and energy to try and help that's like giving them the finger go on line and play games don't waste the people who care time

It is hard to even fathom that this is real! If that is how they want to play, I would be pressing assault charges agains the kids who bullied my kid so fast that there heads would spin. I would also be in touch with a lawyer and the local media. I would hope that any who were involved in making or upholding this rule would be looking for jobs by the time I was done.
Edit: Of course now that I look at your posting history, I realize that this is just something you made up to get attention.

He has no right to kick the child off the bus that is being bullied but he can certainly report the one who is doing the bullying and keep him off the bus

That is a made up question because all bus driivers know they would be sued for dropping a kid off in a snow storm. They have a phone and would just call the school or the police.
