They've finally admitted that its time that we pulled out our troops (2008). It only took the death of several hundred thousand people for them to realise this. With another 10 US marines dead yesterday and untold Iraqis, is this the biggest mess we've created? No wonder the whole world hates us! We've just gone into another country and made it 10 times worse then it originally was. Our troops are running scared of the insurgents and they are willing to die for their cause. What can we do?

Nope...it represents only what it is: a study and their findings for the purpose to appease the publics concern, and advise the administration that "theres options...we must look into them if we want SUCCESS. Success here means a stable region, and a stable gov. both with a trained force to defend the country and represent all the Iraqi people.

I thougt it was funny how the Baker Hamilton guys said these were recommendations to help make the war more successful.

Well, if its failing, then any recommendation would actually do that job wouldnt it?

This whole committee is just Bush's way of dangling everyone to wait for this report to be done.
He still does not have to follow any of them, and unless the democrats start putting some major pressure on him, (and even if they do) hes not going to deter much from where hes already dead set on 'staying his course'

My main curiosity is why is bush so intent on staying in IRAQ at all cost?
What is he gaining, or bete yet, what will he gain from this in the future.

My onlu hope is that Bush needs the democrats for something else he wants to do in the future, and conceeds in some way meeting democrats half way on a return from the troops.

Because make no mistake about it -- if you REALLY want to secure an area, and begin policing it -- you wil do what has to be done and cut through the bull.

Take colombia for instance,.
The drug cartels were runing the place, and little we could do...it wasnt until someone stepped up and cut through all the B.S. and did what had to be done.

So it would be with IRAQ.
Train the troops -- give them the equipment (and make them purchase it from us) and teach them exactly what has to be done - we can support them from afar, but if they fail, then it is up to them to go to the U.N. and ask for help -- should other countries attempt an overthrow

So why are we so intent on staying there?
Doesnt make sense.

Global stability should be U.Ns oversight, not americas.
Someones hidden agenda is underway here.

Well, best we can say is Bush will be leaving soon enough.
Worst part of the will be more us soldiers will have to die.

But thats politics, and we elected Bush for a second time -- so havent we brought this on ourselves???

P.S.
Our tropps are winning the battles,
but we cant win a war against an imaginary unspecified enemy.
we are not afraid of the insurgents(i mena iranians) you idiot!

1. US troops are not running scared. Most troops support what the mission is.

2. Try to actually read the commission report, just getting talking points off Air America is not good enough. It addresses a number of Middle East issues, not just Iraq. http://www.usip.org/isg/iraq_study_group_report/report/1206/iraq_study_group_report.pdf

3. The whole world has always resented the US, this is nothing new. If you've ever traveled outside the US you'll find that most governments have always been against the US. It's jealousy, ignore it. These countries that "hate" the US all want US military bases and the hundreds of millions of dollars it contributes to their economy. If they "hated" the US they would ask us to remove our bases.

At this point in time the entire nation is made up of a bunch of personal opinions. In reality this is nothing more than "stay the course" was a slogan that lacked definition. What is needed is LEADERSHIP pure and simple. The leadership here in the US has floundered just as has the leadership of Iraq is floundering.

My personal opinion; #1 leadership needs to say exactlly what they are going to do and then follow through. #2 Military needs to either get tough or get out. Standing on a street corner waiting to get shot at is not an option.

Well, it depend on how you look at it, if you have an economic int reset sure it is and if not, it isn't. As far as I am concerned just leave those people alone and let them deal with it after the president step up and apologize to the Iraqi people about the catastrophic events that is taking place in Iraq now.

hasn't the order already gone out to increase troop numbers? only last week if i remember. bush will take no notice of this report as it doesn't comply with his master plan. bush is a facist, and facists never know when to back down or when to admit they are wrong. the question remains, why has he not been impeached?!
all i can say is that the american population are a bunch of SUCKERS!!!!

you have won the war,you got what you went for.You have control
of the oil, and you made Iraq sell its oil in dollars instead of euros
mission accomplished, well done, good for you guys.this is exactly
how i thought it would turn out,you can build some bases in the
middle east, leave loads of ships in the gulf protecting your oil.
Well done bush,job done.

Absolutely not! It is slanted to reflect what the members of the committee think the public wants.

Thank you very much, while you're up!!!
