I have tried nero 7 but when i try to play the disc on my dvd player it says disc is not formatted correctly.

try vso to dvd works a treat you will have to purchase it takes a bit of tim to convert depending o the size of download

You need the full version of NERO so it can uncompress and decode the DVIX or XVID file...
The reason it says DISC IS NOT FORMATTED is because there are different REGION CODES for different DVDS around the world...
For example, the CHINESE REGION CODE MAY BE 5, but the USA is 1, so chinese DVDS will not play on a USA DVD PLAYER....
In other words, if you are downloading movies from the WEB, most of them will only work if they were ENCODED TO XVID from the USA and have our DVD region...
NOTE: The Demo version of NERO does not have all the nessesary features to decode properly... If you get the paid version of NERO it has all the features and will automatically decode the XVID FOR YOU.
If you do have the paid version of nero, look for updates and/or plugins...
I have tried over 30 programs for this, and NERO is the only thing that even comes close to doing it right and most effective....
#2 NOTE: XVID is basically the same as an MP3, while an MP3 is a compressed version of a song or rather WAV file, an XVID or DVIX is a compressed version of a DVD...
You need to know that because of 2 reasons.
#1 A DVD is comprised of seperate sections of files, 1 is AUIDO and one is VIDEO, they are not one file, when you play the DVD its encoding automatically SYNCS the AUDIO with the DVD so you see and hear things correctly...
#2 an XVID has been compressed from AUDIO and VIDEO into a single file which includes both the AUDIO and VIDEO... IF YOU EVEN FIND a software that succeeds in DECODING THE XVID back to DVD, it wont be able to seperate the AUDIO from the VIDEO therefore when you play it on your TV the music and voices in the movie, will not be synchronized with the movie... which makes it totally not worthit...

sounds like ur friends dvd player doesn`t accept divx,u would have 2 use the create and burn tab 2 make it dvd format on nero 9 and make a dvd movie,but also check that ur friends dvd player can play dvd-r \ +r discs,but convertxtodvd is the best and easiest 1 2 use,that will convert and burn it 2 disc for u

you first have to rip the divx, save to your system, then convert it to the format, that your computer is set to , try this, if not then you may have to buy, the software especially for that purpose.

I use Cucusoft, very good and quick. I tried it with Nero and didnt work either.
