No, I'm going to have say that 10-12 year olds should never be wearing "thongs". That is way too young for a young girl to wear something of that nature. Don't try forcing her to grow up before she's ready. Let her be a child. If I were her mother/father I'd be upset with you if you presented my child with women's panties.
I don't know what clothing manufacturers are thinking when they make stuff like that for young girls. Crazy....

Of all the presents you could buy for your niece, you think an item of clothing that sexualizes a 10-12 year old is a cool choice? Do you have any younger nieces? Maybe you can find a thong for a 5 year old. Maybe they have toddler thongs too!
A 10-12 year old is not a sexual object. There are so many more age appropriate gifts you could purchase for your niece.

In and of themself, i don't think thongs are wrong, and were my 12 year old daughter really wanting to wear them, I probably wouldn't pick a huge fight over it. That said, I doubt I'd be encouraging it if she hasn't shown an interest. It is true what another person said that it may start her thinking she is older than she is. Plus, you are her aunt; what are her parents going think about this? Have you talked to them about it? The last thing you want to do is give your neice a present that might offend her parents. It's a nice idea, but if I were you, I would avoid it. There are too many potential problems that could arise. Buy her a cute pj set instead.

Look, I'm not going to bust your chops on this, but here is what I think. I am a father of two girls. If my sister where to buy my 12 year old a thong for Christmas, I believe I would come unglued and stuff the Christmas tree (lights and all) up her asss. People are forced to grow up so fast now adays and really a thong is inappropriate for a 12 year old. I obviously don't know how open minded your family is, but if you do this, be prepared for trouble.

I would suggest that you hold off on a thong for your niece for at least another couple year. I don't think anyone under 15 should be wearing a thong. Its a little inappropriate. Or check with your sister first, see what she says.

The LAST thing in the world a 10-12 year old girl needs is a thong. She'll have a hard enough time beating back the "Do as we all do" crap from her peers. Get her something that will promote and celebrate her independence and her mind! THAT'S the role of an aunt.

10-12 is way too young for your niece to wear a thong. I can't believe you even thought of that, how old are you anyway? You sound pretty immature. I'm so sick of the new clothes they have for kids nowadays, they're making the new girls' clothes so revealing. Honey take it this way, there is a fine line between trash and class.

well that would depend, if your a guy buying your niece a thong then that probably wouldn't be a good idea, but if you are a girl and buying your niece a thong...then you have to think of is she really old enough to be wearing such an elaborate undergarment! But that is just my opinion.......I am a woman and I have a 12 year old niece and I think she is too young to be wearing a thong.....to me a thong promotes sex and she is way too young to be thinking about sex......so no I wouldn't buy her one but that is just me......

the store 579 has really cute and cheap thongs that are really cute they're usually 3-7 dollars. Also at the store dots if you buy 2 pieces of jewelry you get any kind of underwear free.

No. That is WAY too young for a girl to be wearing thongs. I know I wouldn't want my 10 year old wearing them. Think about how her parents would view the gift.
