That's what I'm dealing with...I wonder whether it'll kill me or not, 'cause it's unbearable otherwise.

We all can make it on our own with no one beside us.
What you need to do is fill the voids of each day with work, school, activities, friends, self-improvements, anything to keep your mind and body busy. Eventually someone special will enter your life and start making you feel complete again. We all go through a period of loneliness, and those of us who turn the bad times into acceptable times will persevere.
I have been alone for a while, made the best of it, and now someone very special has just entered my life. Still taking it slow right now because I have learned that you can truley always depend on yourself, rather than anyone else.
Learn to LOVE yourself, you will make it through all of this!!!!

Yes, we can be self-sufficient, but we cannot live alone. Unless you're a monk, who lives for praying, you'll need someone with you. It's in our nature, like eating, having sex, being violent.
The one thing you can do, about being self sufficient, is start giving less attention to the ones that surround you and more to yourself. Learn how to enjoy your free-time alone, and having fun with it. I think this is the more alone one can be. In his mind.

No. yet Richard Yates did. study '11 styles of Loneliness' or 'modern street'. In a prior due interview, Yates reported: "If my artwork has a topic, i think this is an undemanding one: that maximum human beings are inescapably by myself, and therein lies their tragedy."

I couldn't. I lived in the country, not isolated, but one of 7 houses. I hated it, now I live in the suburbs and couldn't be happier. It takes a certain type of person to live like that, if you're not it, it will destroy you.

I'm very sorry to hear that. I don't think it is a very healthy thing to be alone, be alone, feel alone. I hope you are able to find a friend in your life. I remember a very lonely couple of years in my life as well. It's heart breaking.
