I believe anything is possible! You must be careful in choosing your new IM friend. Make sure you get to know eachother before you start giving out personal info. Online meetings are good because you communicate more, nothing else to do but chat and ask questions. When you feel comfortable, meet at a public place and remember to tell someone what you are doing and where you are going, just in case! Have fun with online relationships!

I think that you can meet someone online and become their friend. But without ever meeting someone in person, there is no way to really know who they are. It's kinda like the saying goes, "You never know someone until you live with them". So, you may love the feeling you get from talking with him/her, but I say is is not good enough to only see them on a screen.

I think anything is possible. I've known people that have met their spouses online, and are still happily married today. Here's why I think that is: When you talk to someone via instant messenger, you are more open. Correct? You tend to say things online that you probably wouldn't say to someone if you were face to face. I think that's why online relationships tend to happen. Because you actually get to know the real* person, since they are more open and honest while online.
*Assuming that we are talking about honest people who are not pretending to be someone else.

It is not the best way to meet someone. Most of the time it does not work and you have no way to tell if it is not a old guy out to get kids.

No I don't but a friend of mine had a girlfriend he met like this and they were together for over a year. But personally I think it was just luck.
