About a week ago, I noticed that one of my back molars on the bottom was feeling a very sharp pain when I would eat or accidently grind my teeth together. Eventually there was a dull pain in about half of my bottom teeth - would that have just been radiating pain?

I was going to call the dentist on Monday, but by then all the pain was gone and I was eating without pain and everything. But then, yesterday (Wed), the sharp pain is back in my molar and about half of my bottom teeth hurt again too. I don't understand why it would come back.

When I first got it, I had been studying a lot and then it went away but now that I'm back to studying a lot, the pain is back. That's the only connection. I know it's not from grinding my teeth in my sleep, because I really haven't slept much the past 2 days.

I'm 19 and I've never even had a cavity so I'm confused. I also don't have a dentist here(college), so do you think it would be OK to wait 2 weeks til I go home to get in checked?

I just read some side effects from a medicine I'm on that it can cause clenching of the jaw, so I'm probably doing it while I'm awake without noticing.

You should see the dentist. This is just an opinion, but you are probably clenching your jaws together because you are tense about studying and school. You could be doing it at night as well. Try chewing gum during the day. You can buy a product at the drug store now called "Night Guard" that you put over your teeth at night to stop from grinding them. Good luck with your teeth, and especially with your studies. Congrats for going to school!

I think that your wisdom teeth are coming trying to come in and there's no room. Could the pain you have also be described as pressure?? If so, you'll probably have to have your wisdom teeth removed. You're at that age.
The dentist will probably take a pan x-ray which will show all of your teeth and the bone structure around them. This will let him know how many wisdom teeth you have and if they are trying to erupt.
The pain may be caused by clenching, you may be grinding very hard at night, but the pain would most likely be on the top and the bottom.
Good luck!
I hope you feel better soon!

It sounds like you have an abcess.. This starts out small like yours then will swell, heat up, redness of gums and sometimes a puss pocket. It should be ok to wait, but might not be a bad idea to call home to your dentist and ask him to call in an antibiotic to your local walmart pharmacy just to be safe from infection if that is what it is....

if you can stand it using motrin then prob wont do much more harm to wait, unless you see signs that its abcessing. Swelling, heat on the lower jaw area, temperature, increase in pain.
