Okay, here's some advice for me for a change, and you'd better listen, or I'll spank you.

Stop taking those chemical drugs that doctors only prescribe so they can make money off of you.
You are much better off taking a variety of vitamins and minerals, go to GNC and ask for a potent daily multi-vitamin, they are much better for you and will give you the mental balance you seek.

As for being depressed, there has to be a root cause for it, and you'll have to find out what exactly is causing it, and do something about the source, you can treat the symptoms all you want, but it is only a temporary solution.

These medication should only be prescribed by a Psychiatrist who is monitoring the effects, but medication is only on third of equation.
The second: Therapy. These drugs work best when combined with therapy, AND
The third: Nutrition and exercise. Food and weight can have a powerful combined effect on mood.

Psychotropic drugs are not a magic wand. They are only a tool. It doesn't get you to your goal it only HELPS you to get to your goal. You still have to do most of the work.
It sounds like you expected some sort of magic effect which is only going to lead to further depression when it doesn't come along.

If you are only doing the drug third, then you are simply using a mood altering substance and you'll become dependent on increased doses. If you are only going to use one third of the equation you should pick either therapy or the nutrition/exercise parts and skip the drugs. OR, even better, therapy AND nutrition/exercise.

By the way, there may be others out there shivering who have it worse than you in some ways and it is important to keep things in perspective. On the other hand, I don't necessarily think you should feel badly about yourself because you're depressed. That's not very helpful. I don't think shame works as a cure for depression either.

Go back see the doctor who prescribed you the medication. Inform you physician that you don't feel any better.
A change in dosage is possible or a total change of medication.
Just see your doctor, the physician will figure it out for you.

Good luck and feel better.

When I feel depressed I go out and watch homeless people shiver in the cold. Knowing I am better off than they are makes me happy.

If you have been on the drug for several months and are still depressed, you psychiatrist should reevaluate use of that medication. There are several others.

You may need to switch meds. It could be the wrong one, different drugs effect people differently.

It sounds like you need to be going back to the doctor and telling him/her what's going on; get yourself re-evaluated.

its not a magic bullet, takes weeks to work...if you have given it time and still have the troubling feelings, talk to the prescriber.
