when excercising?

Too many variables to consider. Each person differs. It depends on the exercise, the diet and your overall genetic structure.

Basically, for people who do not exercise, they will slowly lose muscle mass. Those who exercise moderately, can maintain a certain percentage. Those who exercise for muscle mass will be the ones who gain the most. But regardless, old age will eventually diminish muscle mass no matter what category you are in.

If you are lifting weights, you gain about 10-15 pounds a year until you fill out. It takes almost five years to completely fill out. Just be sure to stick with it.

It depends on how hard you're working and the muscle stress level.
