i mean, i have read all the evolutionary psychology theories about why people almost instinctually go for the idea that something or someone had to have designed something so awesome... but that would be viewed as a catch-22 by some people!

silverbirch: the studies i'm talking about examine why people have a hard time grasping the theory of natural selection-- why we think there has to be design behind everything. ironically, there are many evolutionary explanations for why our minds work that way. mostly having to do with our evolved theory of mind due to us being social creatures.

i never said i didn't believe in Creation... could evolution be the means by which God both creates and follows his own laws?

From what i have seen most people have a brief introduction to evolution thrown at them in high school biology and then the rest they hear is either from the fundamentalist view that it is false, the young earth creationist view, or they are able to study it further in higher level classes that give a much better knowledge, how it happens, the mechanics.
Quite a few Christians believe in evolution. You can have religion with the understanding of evolution and other sciences that might contradict some of the things in the bible. Really it is the minority that are just loud that have the big problem with it.

You’re right that people around the world, across all cultures and throughout history have looked at the incredible complexity of even the simplest life forms and said there must be a mind behind this. But you don’t have to believe in a higher power to see the myriad problems in the theory of evolution that have caused many scientists to question its legitimacy as a scientific theory.
First of all, despite what you may have been taught in school – evolution is a THEORY (only one of many). In fact, science has disproved many aspects of evolutionary theory. For example, the second law of thermodynamics states that entropy can only increase and order would, then, decrease. Evolution, however, would require that order increase and entropy would decrease as energy was used to create the order. In other words: It is natural, observable, and scientifically testable that the natural order of things is to progress from order to disorder – not from disorder to order. Such action has never been observed nor re-created in a laboratory.
Another example of science contradicting evolutionary theory: It is observable that DNA can change (mutate) into lesser-complicated strands (a loss of genetic information) or strands that remain the same but for a minor difference. However, there is no evidence that new material can spontaneously appear to make more complex strands of DNA (a gain of genetic information). Something must occur to “create” the new DNA necessary to add complexity to a cell, a structure, or a system.
Darwin, himself, once stated, “If it could be demonstrated that any complex organ existed which could not possibly have been formed by numerous, successive, slight modifications, my theory would absolutely break down.” Well, science HAS identified many such organs which operate with this irreducible complexity. The eye is one such organ. Even Darwin admitted in a letter to his friend Asa Gray that the intricacy of the eye “to this day gives me a cold shudder.”
There are so many fact-based problems with the theory of evolution that I can’t even begin to scratch the surface in this short space. However, one cannot help but wonder why it is still taught in schools as though it were proven fact.
Biological systems are like mechanical systems in that just one missing or defective part and they don’t work properly, if they work at all. People naturally assume when they see a complex mechanical system (a car, a cell phone, an oven) that there was a designer. Is it such a surprise that people see something as complex as a living cell and wonder the same thing – could there be a designer?

You’re proper that humans around the globe, throughout all cultures and for the duration of historical past have seemed on the excellent complexity of even the easiest existence varieties and mentioned there ought to be a brain at the back of this. But you don’t have got to think in a better energy to peer the myriad disorders within the idea of evolution that experience induced many scientists to impeach its legitimacy as a systematic idea. First of all, regardless of what you will have been taught in college – evolution is a THEORY (handiest one of the). In reality, technology has disproved many elements of evolutionary idea. For instance, the moment legislation of thermodynamics states that entropy can handiest broaden and order might, then, scale back. Evolution, nonetheless, might require that order broaden and entropy might scale back as power was once used to create the order. In different phrases: It is average, observable, and scientifically testable that the average order of matters is to growth from order to ailment – now not from ailment to reserve. Such motion has on no account been discovered nor re-created in a laboratory. Another instance of technology contradicting evolutionary idea: It is observable that DNA can difference (mutate) into lesser-tricky strands (a lack of genetic knowledge) or strands that stay the identical however for a minor change. However, there is not any proof that new fabric can spontaneously look to make extra difficult strands of DNA (a obtain of genetic knowledge). Something ought to arise to “create” the brand new DNA vital so as to add complexity to a mobilephone, a constitution, or a procedure. Darwin, himself, as soon as mentioned, “If it would be validated that any difficult organ existed which would now not probably were shaped through countless, successive, mild changes, my idea might definitely holiday down.” Well, technology HAS recognized many such organs which function with this irreducible complexity. The eye is one such organ. Even Darwin admitted in a letter to his pal Asa Gray that the intricacy of the attention “to this present day offers me a bloodless shudder.” There are such a lot of reality-established disorders with the speculation of evolution that I can’t even start to scratch the skin on this quick house. However, one can't support however marvel why it's nonetheless taught in colleges as regardless that it had been verified reality. Biological tactics are like mechanical tactics in that only one lacking or faulty side they usually don’t paintings thoroughly, in the event that they paintings in any respect. People obviously anticipate after they see a difficult mechanical procedure (a vehicle, a mobilephone mobilephone, an oven) that there was once a fashion designer. Is it this kind of shock that humans see some thing as difficult as a dwelling mobilephone and beauty the identical factor – would there be a fashion designer?

I have no problem at all accepting Evolution. The alternative is to believe the Biblical version and that is absurd--the world and the whole universe would be 6,000 years old and you can find literally tons of things that are older than that. Big question, if the universe is only 6,000 years old how can there be light reaching us from stars a billion or more light YEARS away??? Evolution as a theory continues to evolve, as all scientific theories do.

because any "evidence" for evolution has always had lies behind it. Entire species have been made cuz some guy found a jaw bone in Africa. So, from that jaw bone, you can creatively make a man AND his wife. Wow! Good science, huh?
Evolution is just as much a belief as creation due to the assumptions you have to make to make the theory true. On the flipside, creation has alot of scientific backing. But neither can be entirely proven. Therefore, you have to "believe" in both.
So, here's the real question: why is evolution taught as a science, if you have to believe in it? Shouldn't it be a theology class?

It is hard to believe because in recorded history, there has been absolutely no evidence of evolution. Are there any apes that are evolving into mankind? Is Homo Sapiens evolving into Homo Superior? NO!! We do not see this happening. (Although, there are probably some egoists out there that believe that they are the latest result of evolution.)
New species have been discovered, but there is no proof that they evolved from some other form. They were simply previously unknown.
How does evolution work?. Is it an extremely slow process that takes a near infinite number of steps to evolve from one state to another, or does it just happen over night? Obviously it does not happen over night or we would all believe in evolution. So, it must occur over an extremely long time so that while it is happening, people do not realize it.
If a Hitler type maniac decided to wipe out all people except Arabs, would you call that an evolution of mankind? No!! I would call it genocide.
Evolution simply does not have sufficient evidence to support it. It is a theory and will remain a theory.

Evolution is a theory. That means it's an idea, there may be some evidence to support the idea, but evolution is not proven fact.
Examine one of the truly marvelous and complex structures, the human eyeball. Ask yourself how something that complex can occur by chance. Photons of light go through your eye, to the retina, to a nerve linked directly to the brain, and those links give you a scene in you head, showing what your eyeballs are focused on.

Honestly, I've tried to understand it, but there are too many gaps between phases. It's like showing eggs, flour and milk and then a finished and decorated cake. There are steps missing. I firmly believe that God created everything and evolution is His tool.

Because there is no definative proof
There are fossils from long ago and there are creatures and bones , etc from today....but nothing linking the two.
There should be fossils showing minor changes over time, but there aren't.
Even the evolution scientist will admit to this
So....it's is nothing more than a theory
You have faith in your evoltution theory
I have faith in Creation
Same thing only different
Why is it so hard for you to believe in Creation?
