The first thing that you need to understand is that everyone who calls him self a christian isn't.

Saying someone is spiritually dead is a lot easier than having an actual dialog that would create a situation where it would be necessary to defend the great wealth of inconsistency's found it the bible and other religious dogma.

Calling anyone who does not agree with them spiritually dead marginalizes any one who dares to point these inconstancy's out. After all why would one need to justify anything to someone who God did not even care about.

Insult and marginalization are seen as the best way to deal with arguments that you have no answer to.

All are spiritually dead until being born again.
That is where the phrase "born again" originates. When you are born again, your spirit is born.

John 3:5,6
Jesus answered, "Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born of the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God.
"That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit."

If a Christian tells you that, it is not an insult.

It never makes me feel any better, I'm just trying to inform you of your spiritual state.

Don't feel so offended. If you don't believe me, fine.
I don't get offended by the insults and trash talk I see on this site.

Ok, question, on this church trip did you accept Jesus as the Lord and Savior of your life? If the answer is yes, then there are no ifs, ands, or buts about it. You are saved. Asking him into your life is all it takes. The voice, is not to be trusted. It will probably always try to tell you that you didn't, but as long as you accepted him as your Savior, you will be saved. I want to know that you are doing this for the right reasons. I don't want you to feel forced whatsoever, but if you are committed to serving Jesus, then by all means, pursue that relationship. To do that you will need to read your Bible and pray to God. That is how you get to know him. That is how you find out about him, and that is how he speaks to you and grows you in your faith. It is an enjoyable relationship and you will learn to love him more than you do even now. I hope that helped some.

I've never heard a Christian say that atheists are "spiritually dead". Does claiming that they do make you feel better?

I believe it because in the Bible it says anyone who doesn't believe is dead spiritually. Non-believers experience two types of death- a physical death (as does everyone), but they also will experience a spiritual death if they leave this world w/o accepting Jesus.

Atheists are not spiritually dead per say. They are only limited by their beliefs and unbelief's.In order to be an atheist, you cannot cross that imaginary line of belief and unbelief. They are only held back by the laws they have enforced on themselves.

sho nuff,

I think christians will say anything to make themselves feel better, even if it means belittling someone else, (see the poster below hes a good example of what im talking about, real consescending asshole)

I have never heard a Christian say that and they shouldn't.(he probably hears it all the time, he proabaly says it too, just turns a deaf ear to it, and denies that he ever said it) I just believe you are misguided(he believes HIS way is the only way and everyone else is wrong, typical snobbery from a christian) and I hope one day you will accept Jesus into your heart. (he doesnt give a crap if youre happy with your own beliefs, only that he can convert people to get brownie points from an evil god)

christians have low self esteem and to them, it boosts thier self esteem to put others down.

Christianity sadly is a faith that demands proselytizing which promotes to that end the use of fear, name calling and the like. Christianity has one of the most pessimistic views of humanity ever devised. To think of yourself (and everyone else including newborns as sinful) is not healthy.

Since you are base and sinful them using any means at their disposal is for your own "good"
