but the transformer only gives a choice of either 50w or 1600w
but the ps3 just need 360w is by putting 1600w too much. if it is too much wad can i do

No, you will not damage your unit by running at higher wattage. The ps3 will take what it needs, as you say, 360w. So, a fifty watt supply will be too little, and that will damage your unit.

1600w is the capacity the transformer will handle, not its output.

In addition, stepping down from 230, you probably have a frequency rate of 50Hz, and the transformer will have to accept this. Standard US 120v is at 60Hz.
