You can go to your church for help. Even if you don't regularly attend church, many churches help out people in need. Or they can refer you to organizations that can help, like the Salvation Army. Toys for Tots gives out gifts to children in families in need - sounds like you might be a candidate for some free gifts. Flip your phone book to the charitable organizations and start calling for help.

Also, do you have things you don't need that you could sell at a garage sale? Or do you have any stores where you live that give you store credit for things you trade in? (There is a baby store near me where I trade in old baby clothes and toys for "new" clothes that fit my growing kids.) Can you (or your kids for that matter) do some babysitting, yard mowing, snow shoveling to make some extra cash? Use your imagination and think of things you're good at (or willing to do) to make some money. There are success stories of people who made a lot of money picking up dog waste in people's yards twice a week simply because it's something that dog owners hated doing and were willing to pay someone else to do. The only expenses were flyers and garbage bags. Have you gotten rid of luxuries like cable TV? Pick up a set of rabbit ears at a garage sale and eliminate that cable bill every month.

Good luck - I'm not too far off from your situation and I'm fighting like mad to stay ahead of the game.

Check with your religious group(church, temple). If they cant help, try a local radio or TV station. I would also contact your local congressman; in person.
