this middle age dude kept looking at me and smiling it is so gross
i looked at him frowning but he just kept on smiling and i am a really shy girl so how do i tell him off

dont look at him - not at all. even if you frown while you're looking at him he will see it as a good thing that youre looking at him, just ignore him - no eye contact at all.

Ignore him, but be aware of things like if he is following you or seems to be everywhere you are. Where do you see this guy? If it's at school, tell someone at the school. If it's at the mall or a public place, ditch him by going into a store or going home. If he knows where you live, one of your parents needs to know abou this guy. He can tell you are shy and he sounds like a predator of some kind so you really need to protect yourself by telling someone else about him and doing something like writing down his license plate and giving that information to an adult in your life.

If you feel uncomfortable try your level best not to go in front of him. Try to ignore his look. Unless you look at him how will you know whether he is looking at you and smiling or not. So dont give attention to it at all. If still he tries to overdo it tell him on his face that you dont like it.

He's doing nothing but smiling...what's the problem? As long as he's not making a physical move toward you, no need to confront him.
He may simply be smiling because he finds you attractive...just because he holds no appeal to you, doesn't make him nasty or dangerous or gross...
Some day, people won't find you attractive...might as well enjoy it while it lasts...no matter where it comes from...smile back, and move on...
If the smile is lewd, then just ignore him...only take action if it appears your safety might be in danger.

Just don't make eye contact. As long as he doesn't approach you or say anything it might be harmless. IF he says anything to you or approaches you, tell him you've already given his discription to the cops.( Of course, this depends on where you're at and how old you are.)

Walk away, or if you are with friends, talk to them and ignore the creep. If there is a guy friend in the group willing to play along, pretend he is your boyfriend, that should discourage him.

you just ignore that ......maybe he was smiling at you because you are pretty . when somebody smiles at me like that i just smile back and go about my way
