I love cruising. Next time you go, try NCL to Alaska.

Posted this by mistake to another question so i'll try again!:

I live on grand cayman and we have thousands of cruise shippers in every day and they drive me nuts (mainly because the majority seem to leave their brains behind as soon as they get on board).

Cruise shippers fall into three categories:

Newly weds
Over feds
Nearly deads.

From what i have heard some ships are constantly announcing events and advertising. If you enjoy having everything planned for you and being herded like cattle, you should have a great time. If not you will probably want to jump overboard. I can guarantee you these ships are full of people who love fast food and sitting in front of the TV day and night and are unable to think for themselves.

Other cruise lines let you do all the work and concentrate on discrete service giving you the opportunity to relax. Im afraid i dont know which cruise lines provide what type of service (the cruise line brochures will tell you all you need to know) so do your homework very carefully and im sure someone here will be able to clue you in! There are lots of cruise review sites as well so take a look at them and you should be able to find a cruise that suits your life style.

I am probably being very harsh overall but i have been watching them all being herded ashore here for over a year now and i just could not imagine going on a cruise ship (unless i had the largest suite on board with strict do not disturb rules).

One thing you can be assured - you will meet a lot of very interesting people and will never get bored no matter what ship you go on. Also, it is a great way of getting a taster of a number of destinations in a certain part of the world making it much easier to make a decision for a stay over holiday in the future.

Give it a go anyway - if its bad you can just sit at the bar waiting for it all to end or kick back by the pool and ignore everyone.

Bring lots of antibacterial wet-ones (hand wipes), and tablets to purify water, don't drink water anywhere else cuz your innards won't be used to it
