Mike Jackson is a hypocrite. He was in charge of the Army when the defence cuts were put through. This was all about saving money so why did he not speak up then?
Oh! forgive me...he would not have got his knighthood if he had.

It is a scandal if British troops are paid less than the Minimun Wage for workers in the UK who do not face anything like the same stresses and dangers.
As you imply, the Ministry of Defence seems to find the money for "toys for the boys". Decent pay for its people and basic equipment should come first.

The British defence budget spending is currently 2.4% of our GDP (Britain's GDP is about $1.8 trillion).
As a comparison, the United States' defence budget spending is just over 4%, France spends 2.6% and Germany spends only 1.5%.
This information was taken from the CIA World Factbook, which is a brilliant source of information!

Top bloke - our troops neeed all the support they can get both politically and equipment wise - all those suits in government havent got a clue about warfare - only the likes of Ashdown and Davies both ex special forces have any experience - we need someone with military experience running the MOD

I dont know what the defence budget is but I know that many of our servicemen's families have had to apply for food stamps and other assistance in order to get by and I think that's a shame.

I don't know how much the defence budget is, but the guys who are prepared to die for our well being deserve a lot better treatment than they get now.

Not as much as it should be! You would be better off asking how much we pay scroungers not to go to work or have kids every year.Or the asylum seekers that we have to feed and clothe and house. Or the politicians to run two houses in London, one on the coast and a villa somewhere hot!Or keep pumping money into local councils that are run by overpaid executives who employ consultants to consult the consultant who they consult on how to do the job that they are getting overpaid to do!
